We would be very hard pressed to find a poor macro lens as the general standard is very high across all marques. The 100mm macro is a particularly popular choice, doubling up as a useful portrait lens as well as other short telephoto applications.

The Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 G OSS macro performed pretty awesome in our full format test so let's have a brief look how it performs in the APS-C scope this time. Like most modern macro lenses it is capable of focusing down to an object magnification of 1:1 although it also works perfectly fine as a...
Very pleased with this lens. Very sharp images. I liked this product as soon as I started using it, but am finding it even more impressive as I spend more time with it. Comments about its weight and size are valid I suppose but this lens balances nicely with the a7r body. No going back!
I did have them all, Canon, Nikon, and Zeiss ... But, The Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 G OSS Macro is an exception. At least in image quality department and that is always in my book priory. This lens feels good, the focusing is extremely accurate and overall, working with the lens is a pleasure.
Outstanding sharnes; nice focusing; water seal; manual-autofocus switch ring
Luck of lens-tripod mount rig
I have the Sony A7r and have found the canon glass and metabones adapter to be to unreliable. The camera is much happier with this lens. IQ and build quality are truly superb. It's a lot of money but completes a high spec camera system.

The Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS ($1,099.99) offers all that and more. It's a top performer, with only a few quibbles when it comes to its imaging performance. It's definitely pricey, but if you're shooting with Sony's full-frame mirrorless camera system, and in want of an autofocus macro lens, it's the one to get, and our Editors' Choice. This is a great full-frame macro lens for Sony E-mount mirrorless camera. I've had it for a month now and I'm still amazed at some of the images it produces. The good size focusing ring also acts as the switch between manual and auto-focus settings -- just push away from the camera to engage...
Consistent Output; Great bokeh; Sharp Focus
The Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS is an excellent macro lens for the Sony full-frame compact system cameras. It delivers outstanding sharpness in the centre of the frame almost throughout its aperture range, even performing well wide-open at f/2.8, although you'll need to stop down to f/5.6 to get...
It's a pricey lens, but right now it's the only E-mount option that works out-of-the-box for macro photography. It might be expensive, but you get an exceptionally sharp lens with some great features - certainly, worth the investment.
