Lens Test: Nikon 50mm f/1.4G Nikkor AF-S
The newest version of Nikon's storied 50mm f/1.4 boasts a redesigned optical formula for more effective flare prevention. A 75mm equivalent on Nikon smaller-sensor DX bodies, this $500 (street) full-framer also has a circular-bladed aperture for smoother defocusing. HANDS ON

- Essentially no lateral chromatic aberration
- Near-silent AF-S focus with full-time manual override

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G Lens Review
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G is the latest update to the venerable Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D. The Nikon communality has been expecting this lens for quite some time now, considering that the previous version of the lens was introduced in 1995 and has not seen any updates since then.

Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S Lens
While I hope to create a full Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S Lens, my first priority is to include results from this lens in the lens comparison tools available on the site. This page currently exists because it is required by the database and content management systems for me to post information and...

Overall, I think that the new 50mm f/1.4 AF-S is a great little lens, and I'm glad to see that the old AF-D model has finally been replaced. There's a lot to like about the new and improved lens – better image quality all around and lots of small improvements in the overall design.

Basic tools are a necessity in any field of work. Construction workers have circular saws. Painters have primer coats. Mechanics have socket sets. And good photographers have fast, sharp and ideally inexpensive lenses. These are tools good tradesmen require.

On DX it's my 'bread-and-butter' Queen. And in when flash is not a solution, it just make the difference between a blurred picture and a picture I can sell.
Pros:
- Sharp from f2.0 and it's a perfect allround lens in low-light situations
Cons:
- Ca can be a 'problem' at f1.4 its a litle soft

Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S Nikkor review by photospots
A very sharp lens which is very sharp and creates great bokeh if you use it as a portrait lens or other places where bokeh is important. But you should consider buying the 50mm 1.8g which is cheaper, but has almost the same picture quality.
Pros:
- very sharp
- great bokeh
Cons:
- could have better autofocus speed
