Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.4G
The Nikkor AF-S 50mm f1.4G was announced in September 2008 as the company's flagship standard prime lens. It shares the same bright f1.4 aperture and standard focal length as the much older AF 50mm f1.4D, but features an SWM focusing motor, which means it'll autofocus quickly and quietly on all...
Pros:
- The most affordable f1.4 prime from Nikon
- Great image quality on DX and FX bodies
- Quiet and reliable AF operation
- Small and light
- Weather sealing at the lens-mount
Cons:
- Longitudinal CA can be outright nasty
- Coma shows in high-contrast situations
- Some nervousness in background Bokeh
- No image stabilization

A great Upgrade from a kit lens
My first new lens since I bought my camera (D7000 inc 18-105) works amazingly just what I wanted, took a while to get used to fixed focal length and the capability's of this lens but gets some amazing shots.

Excellent prime lens.
For beginners remember this is a prime lens so there is no zoom available. Have to move your feet to frame your shots. The upside to prime lens is that the image quality can't be beat.
Pros:
- Fast prime lens, general focal length good for lots of shooting scenarios
- Superb image quality
Cons:
- Really can't go wrong having this lens especially on full frame camera

Nice for nighttime street photography
I have found this lens to be the perfect companion for nighttime portraits of street people in Las Vegas. I use it with a D7100 and it gives me the perfect reach for finding subjects in the crowds of Fremont Street. This is the perfect FX lens to use on a DX body. It is clean, fast, and sure.

Great Lens - Worst Packing
Fellow Photography enthusiatist, The lens has f/1.4 which is amazing for low light pics... Take it to a beach / late night party... you will get amazing pic quality.... But beware of the package... I got the package in worst condition... Am rating it as 3 as normal because of the worst packing...

Superb Lens
Superb lens, i can't stress enough the importance of having a 50 mm lens and this is perphas the best you can buy in a 50 mm category. However I was not very satisfied with the packaging, the packing looked old, though the lens inside was brand new.

Great Lens
images here are from a sports banquet that had very low lighting. I took the shots without flash. the brighter one was processed using the "one step photo fix" option in Corel Paintshop Pro
Pros:
- Crisp Images
- Exceptional In Low Light
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Nice Bokeh

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G Lens AF-S 50MM F/1.4G review
Nikon's latest take on the classic "fast fifty" knocks it out of the park....
You can't judge a book by its cover, but you can judge a lens system by the quality of its "fast fifty" prime lens. If your system's lens designers can't nail this one? Good luck producing top-notch lenses with more complex designs.

Great in low light and for portraits
The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G Lens is a step up from the f/1.8 version offering both a higher aperture and better build quality. This 'G' series lens means that the AF motor is built into the lens itself and is therefore compatible with entry level Nikon DSLRs.
