"Snapping quite happy with my Nikon D5500"

* If you are looking for a full spec technical camera review then move away now; user review only. My Camera History In these self promoting days my father would probably have been touted as a semi-professional photographer, but back then he rather saw himself as a postman "with a hobby", who took a...

A reasonable all-ronder

A bit fiddly to use

Brilliant quality images

Upgraded from the Nikon D3200. Immediately feels smaller in the hand. Good, quality product. Excellent, clear, bright images produced from new processor. Still battling my way through the various systems, but basic 'point-and-shoot' mode covers most situations.

D5500

I bought a Nikon D5500, Ritz had it on sale for by far the cheapest I'd seen it!! I love it! It got here fast and I've been using it for about a month now!

Amazing Photos / Great Nikon Kit

I've been doing photography for years, including darkroom work, and decided to upgrade when I found a Nikon that had what I wanted on it. I've held off for a long time and finally found the price and features I wanted at Sam's. This package has Nikon glass.

Nikon D5500 Review

The Nikon D5500 provides best-in-class image quality, solid performance with a great battery life and excellent features that make shooting easy and fruitful. Being that it's the best entry-level DSLR currently available, it's an excellent choice.

This camera has the best low-light performance of any APS-C camera

It's more expensive than other entry-level options

Nikon D5500 with 18-55mm VR II Lens Kit

The Nikon D5500 is a great option for the family photographer or someone who is looking to get their first DSLR camera. The camera's 24.2 megapixel sensor captures high quality photos and its lightweight body makes it easy to tote around on vacations or at a party.

Great image quality for photos and videos; Lightweight; Collapsible lens reduces bulk; Great battery life

Collapsible lens opens a bit slowly

Nikon's new D5500 dSLR camera is a mid-range model available now for purchase. This 24-Megapixel DX Format (APS-C) camera features a 39-point AF system, 3.2-inch Vari-Angle Touch LCD screen, Built-in WiFi, Full 1080p HD Video capture and an automatic scene selection mode; giving you the maximum...

Auto and Program modes are accurate and provide outstanding image quality; Dedicated Video Capture Button is always ready to record; Nikon F mount allows you to use the huge selection of lenses; Excellent overall image quality at all ISO levels; 921k dot LCD provides great color and a ton of detail,...

Only one command dial slows down your adjustments when shooting manually; but keeps the body simple; Priced slightly higher than most entry-level dSLRs; but worth the extra cost

Nikon D5500 DSLR Review: High Quality, Easy to Carry

Who it's for? Photographers stepping up from a point-and-shoot, bridge or entry-level DSLR camera as well as enthusiasts looking for a highly capable DSLR without the price tag of pro-level models.

Excellent image quality for its class; Easy-to-use Wi-Fi; Responsive autofocus; Touch-to-focus and shoot LCD; Light; compact design

Slow live-view autofocus; Lacks built-in GPS of the predecessor D5300; Limited Wi-Fi app functions; Built-in mic picks up stray sounds
