Simply Brilliant

I'm fortunate to also own a D7200 with a 16-85mm zoom. I bought the D5500 because it would be lighter to carry and I'm not a great lover of compact cameras. To sum this camera with the 18-55 VR II lens up in one word - SUPERB. Don't underestimate the quality of the lens either.

Great multi-purpose camera

I work a lot with both photo and video, so this camera is a good fit for me. The image quality is excellent, it is full of useful features, and the compact size makes it easy to carry in a smaller bag.

It is worth noting, though, that the mobile app is a bit plain and there are myriad buttons (in too many separate places). You need to learn about ISO, shutter speed, aperture, exposure and all the other things that making shooting with a DSLR (or a mirrorless camera) that much more difficult, but...

Just totally wow

I wanted a more pro version camera without going into a full body design. This is definitely the camera, packed with so many features and the body is so compact and light it just grips into my hand perfectly. It's my 3rd SLR over allot of years and it's by far my best investment yet.

Nikon d5500

This camera is taking great pictures with the little bit that I've learned so far. I'm experimenting with all the features that this mid level camera has to offer. If your in the market for a new one I strongly recommend checking it out. You will not be disappointed

Value for money.

If you buy it with 18 - 140 MM, you can save some money there compared to if you buy it with traditional 18=55 MM lens. Plus, 18-140 mm serves your all time purpose. Also, keep a room for buying that 35 mm Prime lens for that awesome portrait photography.

Nikon D-5500 bundle

Upgraded from the D-3200 to the D-5500 and what a great camera! The transition from the 3200 to the 5500 was VERY easy. The tilt feature of the rear screen is the best. Also the lighter /slimmer body style is great for heavier lens (55-300mm in the bundle).

"Snapping quite happy with my Nikon D5500"

* If you are looking for a full spec technical camera review then move away now; user review only. My Camera History In these self promoting days my father would probably have been touted as a semi-professional photographer, but back then he rather saw himself as a postman "with a hobby", who took a...

A reasonable all-ronder

A bit fiddly to use
