Nikon Coolpix AW110

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 is an all-weather, all-purpose digital compact camera featuring a robust exterior that is water, shock and freeze-proof. It also sports built-in GPS, a back-illuminated 16 megapixel sensor, EXPEED C2 processor and FullHD video recording.

We bought this camera to use while snorkeling and other activities where our DSLR would either be too bulky or at risk of the elements.  Which is pretty much what the promotional material told us it would be good for.

What more would you want out of a device which gives you crash protection from 2 metres height and waterproof upto 60 feet. All my extreme scuba diving excursions can now be captured. Nikon delivers the best when it comes to quality innovations at great price. I just loved this camera.

Nikon Coolpix AW110 review: Rugged camera ready to shoot and share

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a fairly minor update to 2012's AW100, as you may have figured out by the incremental model number change.

If you're looking for a rugged camera, but don't want to sacrifice on-the-go sharing, the Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a good place to start.

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 is rated to survive being underwater down to 59 feet and drops of up to 6.6 feet along with being freezeproof and dustproof; has built-in GPS for geotagging among other things and Wi-Fi for easy shooting and sharing with iOS and Android devices; It is well priced considering its features and durability specs.

While its shooting performance is good; the camera's spongy buttons might slow you down a bit and the camera's slow lens requires a lot of light to get the best shots.

Nikon Coolpix AW110

The Coolpix AW110 is a capable rugged camera with good photo quality for its class, an elaborate GPS feature, Wi-Fi for remote camera control, and a nice movie mode - all without breaking the bank. It can also go further underwater than any of its peers. Downsides include smudged details, blue color casts underwater, poor outdoor display visibility, and below average battery life.

Divers, serious GPS lovers, or anyone who wants an easy-to-use rugged camera that takes good pictures and movies. Wi-Fi connectivity and a low price make it even more appealing.;

Photographers who don't want to color correct underwater photos. Those taking photos in bright outdoor sunlight, or expect to get a full day of shooting on a single battery charge.;

Nikon Coolpix AW110 Review

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 ($349.95 direct) is the follow-up to the AW100, a tough compact that won our Editors' Choice award when we reviewed it back in late 2011. The 16-megapixel AW110 improves upon the earlier model in small ways, including an improved underwater depth rating and built-in Wi-Fi, but it's not a drastically different camera. Other tough cams have added wider-aperture lenses, macro LED lights, and other features that make the category a bit more competitive. Our Editors' Choice rugged compact is one of those, the Olympus Tough TG-2 iHS( at Amazon); it's only $30 more than the Nikon, and packs an f/2 lens that makes it a more versatile low-light shooter. Design and Features The AW110($399.99 at Amazon) follows the traditional tough camera design scheme. The lens is an internal zoom design, located in the top corner of the body. The camera itself measures 2.6 by 4.4 by 1 inch and weighs 6.9 ounces. Its tough exterior can survive drops from a 6.6-foot height, can oper...

The rugged Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a modest update to its predecessor, the AW100. It can go deeper under water and adds Wi-Fi, but still suffers at high ISO settings.

Sharp OLED display; Built-in Wi-Fi with remote viewfinder support; Integrated GPS; Waterproof to 59 feet; Action button; 5x zoom range

Not the best performance in low light; Narrow aperture compared with the competition; Image sharpness suffers at edges of frame; So-so high ISO image quality
