Nikon Coolpix AW110 review

Nikon's latest update to its go-anywhere compact keeps its rugged rivals at arm's length. Encased in an almost full metal jacket, the AW110 feels more hard-wearing than its slightly more plasticky Panasonic FT5 and Olympus TG-2 opponents.

As rugged as Burt Reynolds; Glove mode keeps your fingers toasty; Detailed pictures

Weak zoom; Lacks standard micro-USB connection

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 was announced in January 2013 and is an update to Nikon's first all weather camera, the

Waterproof to 18m; Good picture quality; Decent macros; Built-in Wi-Fi and GPS; Auto HDR; 8 fps full resolution continuous shooting

Quite short battery life; Images are softer in the corners; Noise effects image quality at ISO 1600 upwards

Fantastic features in a compact design

Bought this camera for a trip Europe where luggage space was at a premium. As this was a trip of a lifetime it was important to have a camera that would capture our memories in good quality images without having to worry about sand, sea and adverse weather.

Excellent macro photos

This camera really impressed me. I have bought 4 camera's from Future Shop in the last 1 1/2 years. This one tips the scales. The macro photos are very clear with excellent depth of field right up to one centimeter. Regular point and shoot photos are very sharp as well.

Nikon Coolpix AW110

The AW110 is a competent tough camera, but with no improvement over image and video quality since its predecessor, there is little reason for existing users to upgrade.

Quick and accurate GPS tagging; Wi-Fi connectivity; Improved waterproof credentials from previous model

Lens tends to fog and smudge easily; Zoom rocker can be a bit fiddly when wearing gloves; Fingers can easily obstruct lens; Images appear a little flat on default settings

With the Nikon Coolpix AW110, you will get one of the best waterproof cameras available. Its exceptional image quality, versatility and durability set it apart from the competition.

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 offers outstanding image quality; Wi-Fi and a built-in GPS

The Wi-Fi cannot be activated by a button on the camera itself.

Nikon Coolpix AW110

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 ($349.95 direct) is the follow-up to the AW100 , a tough compact that won our Editors' Choice award when we reviewed it back in late 2011. The 16-megapixel AW110 improves upon the earlier model in small ways, including an improved underwater depth rating and built-in Wi-Fi,...

No Saltwater Proof !! No Snorkelling !

I bought this Nikon just for Hawaii, Underwater pictures. After 20 minutes, & some poor pictures, it just DIED. Like other Reviewers, this camera may be waterproof @ your backyard pool, or rainy park, Not in Saltwater ocean. I do own Nikon SLR, & Pocket Coolpix, they are great with sharp pictures.

pocket size

not waterproof; poor quality pictures

Sharp OLED display; Built-in Wi-Fi with remote viewfinder support; Integrated GPS; Waterproof to 59 feet; Action button.

Not the best performance in low light; Narrow aperture compared with the competition; Image sharpness suffers at edges of frame.

Probably the best waterproof camera without spending too much

I bought and returned the Olympus TG830 because it made too loud a ticking sound from the autofocus on all videos, and you cannot turn off continuous video auto focus. I bought this Nikon and put it through its paces today, and I think it's a keeper now: You get a two point neck strap, so that it...
