provides a field of view equivalent to a 24-76mm lens on a 35mm camera and sports optical image stabilisation, which promises to allow sharp hand-held images to be taken at shutter speeds slower than without the technology.
Good sharpness throughout the zoom range; Lightweight; Low distortion and falloff; Low CA levels; Effective optical stabiliser
Lacks the premium feel of XF lenses; No manual aperture ring
The Fujifilm Fujinon XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS ($399.95 list) is on the pricey side for any kit lens-they're usually priced around $200-but it's a very sharp lens, and can be had for a mere $100 premium when purchased in a bundle with the X-M1 mirrorless camera.
Very sharp; Useful zoom range; Optically stabilized.
Lacks aperture ring; Plastic lens mount; Narrow aperture.
I bought this lens along with the X-E1 as part of a Kit. It was after the launch of the X-E2 and was on offer at a very good price. I needed a camera for use on the street. I am very pleased with quality of the results this lens is giving me.
Great Picture Quality; Lightweight; Simple Controls
Flimsy Construction; Look Cheap

I've been using the Fuji X-E1 with Fuji 18-55 zoom lens (a fantastic lens by itself). But I needed a wider reach and I've been eyeing this 16-50 XC zoom lens for some time now, but I wasn't reach to pay the $399 retail if you purchased it separately (and they're hard to find separately).
I had an X-M1 on trial for a few days and it came with this lens, despite it not being an XF lens I felt the build quality was better than the usual kit lens you get from Sony and the like.
Compared to Fuji 18-55mm: Advantages are --smaller, significantly lighter, wider (24mm equiv vs 28mm equiv) and substantially less expensive. Disadvantages are may be less sturdy/durable, i8mage quality very slightly poorer but fclkose enough you might not notice.
At $399, the Fujifilm Fujinon XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS II is on the pricey side for a starter lens, but its image quality and optically stabilized design make the price of entry worthwhile. Fuji's X series of mirrorless cameras are on the pricey side themselves, and if you're looking at a model that's bundled with this lens, like the entry-level X-A2 ($385.99 at Amazon) , you'll be happy to know that it's a very solid starter option. If you have a bit more to spend on a zoom, you should check out the Fujinon XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS ($385.99 at Amazon) for its wider aperture and better build quality. The 16-50mm ($385.99 at Amazon) has a plastic barrel and lens mount—Fujifilm presumably decided to keep costs down by sacrificing build quality instead of optical quality. But even though it lacks high-grade construction, it doesn't feel cheap. The only real issue is some wobble when it is extended all the way out at its 50mm zoom setting. The lens measures 2.6 by 2.5 inches (HD) at...
The Fujifilm Fujinon XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS II is a fine example of what a basic zoom lens can be.
Very sharp; Optical stabilization; Includes lens hood
Lacks aperture ring; Plastic mount and construction; Some distortion

Fuji cut a few corners in terms of build quality—the barrel and lens mount are plastic and there's no physical aperture ring. The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS($399.95 at Amazon) is better built lens with a wider aperture, but that comes at a premium price. If you're on a budget and want to jump into the Fuji X camera system, the XC 16-50mm is a good lens with which to start, especially if you're able to purchase it in a kit. The lens covers a field of view that's equivalent to a 24-75mm zoom on a full-frame camera. Its f/3.5-5.6 aperture range is typical for a starter zoom lens. Fuji used a lot of plastic to keep weight down; the lens weighs in at 6.9 ounces and measures by 2.6 by 2.5 inche...
The Fujifilm Fujinon XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS is a solid option for Fuji shooters looking for a basic zoom lens, but the more expensive 18-55mm is a better choice.
Very sharp; Useful zoom range; Optically stabilized; Includes hood
Lacks aperture ring; Plastic lens mount; Narrow aperture; Some distortion at 16mm
