I bought this lens along with the X-E1 as part of a Kit. It was after the launch of the X-E2 and was on offer at a very good price. I needed a camera for use on the street. I am very pleased with quality of the results this lens is giving me.

I had an X-M1 on trial for a few days and it came with this lens, despite it not being an XF lens I felt the build quality was better than the usual kit lens you get from Sony and the like.

Compared to Fuji 18-55mm: Advantages are --smaller, significantly lighter, wider (24mm equiv vs 28mm equiv) and substantially less expensive. Disadvantages are may be less sturdy/durable, i8mage quality very slightly poorer but fclkose enough you might not notice.

I've been using the Fuji X-E1 with Fuji 18-55 zoom lens (a fantastic lens by itself). But I needed a wider reach and I've been eyeing this 16-50 XC zoom lens for some time now, but I wasn't reach to pay the $399 retail if you purchased it separately (and they're hard to find separately).

At $399, the Fujifilm Fujinon XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS II is on the pricey side for a starter lens, but its image quality and optically stabilized design make the price of entry worthwhile. Fuji's X series of mirrorless cameras are on the pricey side themselves, and if you're looking at a model that's bundled with this lens, like the entry-level X-A2 ($385.99 at Amazon) , you'll be happy to know that it's a very solid starter option. If you have a bit more to spend on a zoom, you should check out the Fujinon XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS ($385.99 at Amazon) for its wider aperture and better build quality. The 16-50mm ($385.99 at Amazon)  has a plastic barrel and lens mount—Fujifilm presumably decided to keep costs down by sacrificing build quality instead of optical quality.
