Fantastic Every Day Lens.

This is the perfect daily use lens for the EOS R system. Its a jack of all trades, master of none, its not terribly fast at f/4, but for daytime shooting and some studio work its fantastic for a standard telephoto.

GR8!!

Price point, quality and versatility. Lens is a great everyday lens that provides great options whether shooting portraits, landscapes or architecture. It has greatly reduced my need to carry extra equipment and allows me to stay focused on my subject than switching gear.

Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Review

The Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is the first kit lens introduced with the new EOS R full-frame mirrorless system. The term ‘kit lens' is misleading, though, as the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM bears Canon's L designation and promises professional-level performance.

Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens

If you had to choose just one lens to go with a ‘full frame' camera, the 24-105mm zoom is the one most photographers would select. So it's nice to see Canon offering the RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens with its new EOS R mirrorless camera .

Canon RF f/4L IS USM Lens review

If we look at this just as a lens for a camera system then the cost is about right and the performance is excellent. So, for users of this system this is a very fine standard zoom and in fact pretty much the only choice at the moment. It absolutely delivers the goods.
Pros:
  • Excellent sharpness, Low central CA, Performance well maintained at all focal lengths, Smooth bokeh, High quality manufacture, Weather sealed, Excellent ergonomics, Silent and ultra smooth AF, Image Stabilisation
Cons:
  • Edge CA, Distortion

Canon RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM

The growing pains of a just-born camera system are something early adopters must endure. I don't think Canon did itself a favor by omitting a budget option from its first batch of RF lenses, but that doesn't take away from the quality you get from the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM.
Pros:
  • 4.4x zoom range
  • Crisp optics
  • Constant f/4 design
  • Excellent build
  • Optical stabilization
  • Dust and splash protection
  • Protective fluorine coating
Cons:
  • Pricey
  • Heavy vignette, Shows some distortion

Canon RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM Review

The Canon RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM zooms a bit further than the 24-70mm F2.8, and while it gathers less light, it's a fine choice for photographers who prefer a bit extra zoom power. Canon mirrorless system owners have a few options when it comes to a standard zoom lens for an R series mirrorless camera. The RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM ($1,099) is a midrange option, with a dimmer f-stop and shorter zoom range than the premium RF 24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM ($2,299) and RF 28-70mm F2 L USM, but notably better optics than the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 L IS STM or RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM. Photos are sharp, even on high-resolution sensors, and while it's bigger than the F4-7.1 edition, it balances well on an R mirrorless body. If you want more range than the 24-70mm F2.8, or just want to spend a bit less, the 24-105mm F4 fits the bill.More Than a Kit Zoom The term "kit zoom" is almost a dirty word in photographic circles, despite manufacturers largely offering much better starter options for SLRs and mirrorless systems in recent years than they used to. The RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is built, and priced, beyond even modern kit lens quality. It offers more zoom range than the Niko...
