Basic navigation at a great price

I bought this for quick hike and shorter outings where a conventional GPS unit is not really needed. It does the job well and the price was right. Also makes a great back up to your full size GPS, in case it goes down. My only complaint is it is a little bigger than I anticipated.

Good Value

A Little Large

Easy to use!

We took this out on our first hiking trip. We used to have an older version of a handheld GPS but it was always too complicated for me to use. This one is SOOOOO easy. And, I can read it without putting my readers on (love that!

Accurate; Extensive Base Map; Intuitive Menu; Large Screen; One Hand Control; Quick Navigation; Quick Signal; Reliable Reception

Bushnell Backtrack GPS

I bought this because of my tendency to get lost/disoriented when hiking/snowshoeing on unfamiliar trails or other areas. I've only had it for a few days and haven't yet needed it to find my way back, but I've been testing it a few times on every outing and it seems to function OK.

Easy to use; pocketable

Can change mode/location without user awareness

" An expensive version of a crumb trail.... "

I read a favorable review of the BackTrack in a hunting/outdoors magazine and was interested in trying one out - but the original $80 price tag (for such a basic unit) was a bit rich for me.

Let's face it. Some people are directionally challenged. Hell, one of the guys here can't even make it to the golf course, even with a navigation system (Eric: I resent that.) . So you can imagine the relief when Bushnell agreed that they'd equip the GP team here with BackTracks and give us the...

Marking points only

I bought this based on the description on the box stating that it could store up to three locations. My misunderstanding; you cannot enter locations, you can only mark locations where you are physically located so you can get back to them.

Randy: Which BackTrack do you have I had the same…

Randy: Which BackTrack do you have I had the same issue on the original until I learned that all digital compasses need to be calibrated, my Suunto is the same way. I flipped it in the air a couple of times instead of following the video I found on the website and it was accurate from then on,...

Bushness GPS don't leave camp without it

This is an excellent little device for insurance when camping in new territory. It often takes a minute or two to get started and sometimes initial activation seems to be delayed when surrounded by tall trees. Once it is active for the day, it comes back on line down the trail more quickly.

simple; good battery life; accurate to 50 yards

only three memory positions at one time
