Asus RT-AC66U router: The best 802.11ac router on the market, so far

Asus currently builds the best consumer-oriented 802.11n router--the RT-N66U Dual-Band Wireless N900, which I used as a reference device to compare new 802.11ac routers against. After testing the company's $200 RT-AC66U, I believe that Asus also markets the best 802.11ac router currently available,...

Don't go on the speed

This is a good router with better features. Speed not as per specification. It again depends on the speed of the wireless adapter of your laptop. I just get connectivity of 72 Mbps I haven't seen any change in speed in my usage compared to my old one Linksys WRT54G G router.

great coverage

i had a top of the line netgear 600n router that wouldnt reach across my house. This one does it no problem. It does have an available (super antenna) I may purchase to try and cover my outside yard as well.

Easy setup; Powerful Antenae

Good Router for the Money

I was able to price match this router with another vendor and was pleased with the 110% match. Before the price match this router is actually too expensive for what it is listed at. The router performs very well - and provides much greater coverage than the ISP standard router we had before.

Two weeks and no problems

Simple to set up. Signal strength far more powerful than my old Trendnet. No need to reset in the 2 weeks it's been in action. Actual wireless transmission speeds more than 10 mbps upload and download -- more than twice my old Trendnet.

I've had this router for 4 weeks now. It was purchased as a replacement for a Belkin AC1200 (which was an awful router) and the Belkin was a replacement for a BT HH3. Initially, I was very disappointed with the router. It required a reboot every morning.

Asus RT-AC66U Review

The Asus RT-AC66U offers everything you look for in a premium wireless router. It's fast, secure and provides deep control over your network. Despite slightly slower speeds on the 2.4GHz band, this router is difficult to beat.

Unmatched configuration options let you create a customized network

This router is slightly slower on the 2.4GHz band

Buyers in search of a high performance wireless router should stick with the RT-N66U Dark Knight vs. the RT-AC66U, at least for now. Given the reports in the SNB Forums, it looks like the AC66's firmware is not yet stable, with some features disappearing to be worked on and others partially...
