Asus RT-AC66U Dual Band 3x3 802.11AC Gigabit Router

Asus introduces its pre-draft 802.11AC router: the RT-AC66U. It's the only pre-draft 11AC router so far, to utilize external antennas, a plus for range, because the RT-AC66U sustained the best throughput at distance than any other pre-draft 11AC routers tested to date.

Excellent range; Top performing router at 5 GHz N, very good in 11ac mode; Advanced features; Business-class capabilities

Some sluggish performance in the interface; Connected clients lost Internet connectivity a few times

Asus RT-AC66U

The RT-AC66U offers plenty of tweaking options, although novice users won't have to do much if any adjusting. The router is backward compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n, so it can be used with all existing Wi-Fi-capable devices. Stellar at 5 GHz.

Excellent range; speed; Advanced features; Granular control over network

Sluggish interface; Could be more reliable; Sometimes runs hot

New Router for New Standard, ASUS RT-AC66U

We didn't really have enough time to get used to all capabilities of IEEE 802.11n standard and now it is going to be replaced by another, newer one, IEEE 802.11ac. ASUS RT-AC66U wireless router that our laboratory hosts today has support of this very standard.

Low routing and NAT speeds; The device deadlocks upon operation with an external HDD with NTFS; Inability to install add-ons; The web-interface is not completely translated

ASUS RT-AC66U 802.11ac Wireless-AC1750 Router Review

Today we take a look the ASUS flagship 802.11ac Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router. Wireless AC technology has been on the market for almost a year so it is pretty mainstream and can be found in computers, mobile devices, and of course routers.

Two aspects are important with the ASUS RT-AC66U. First, how does it compare to other ac-routers? The ASUS router did clearly perform better than the Buffalo and Netgear routers. And secondly, should you get an 802.11ac instead of an 802.11n? Our current favorite n-router is the ASUS RT-N66U.

Faster than 10 fast routers

I upgraded to this because of the recommendation the abt employee gave. Plus my old router was from 2006. Easy to set up and easy web app to configure and download any updates. I have an Xbox one that gets a lot of online play, a few Phones and a couple of computers linked to this without problems.

Easy To Set Up; Fast; Fast Connection Speed; Open box; plug it in and done; Reliable connection; Secure Connection
