Works great, stronger signal strength, and faster speeds over my dated cheap router. The dual band is nice for my home..4 IPads and smart tv...supplies all the devices simultaneously effortlessly.

It is very nice. The setup was bothersome because to access the router via a browser I had to use an IP that I've never used before and nowhere in any booklet or on the router itself was there an explanation to this, I had to google for a good hour or two before I realized this awkward IP address...
This is rated as one of the best routers on many sites, and it did not disappoint. We use both freqs that the router provides. 5Ghz upstairs where the router is and then 2.4GHz downstairs and it works perfectly.
Even though it comes with setup CD you don't need it. I just connected the Ethernet cable to my laptop and entered 192.168.1.1 in my browser address and set up my wi-fi there. It's pretty straight forward.
Asus has introduced its pre-draft 802.11ac router, the RT-AC66U. It's the only pre-draft 11ac router thus far to utilise external antennas, which is a plus in terms of range, and the RT-AC66U sustained a better throughput at distance compared to other pre-draft 11ac routers we've seen.
Very impressive range; Excellent performance at 5GHz 11n; Plenty of advanced features on board; Business-class capabilities
Somewhat sluggish interface; Lost Internet connectivity a few times
This is Asus' first 802.11ac wireless router. While Asus is primarily known for its laptops, tablets and smartphones the company has also been carving out a niche for itself in the router market.
The fastest wireless ac router yet; Excellent 802.11n speed and range; Intuitive user interface; Fast; simple setup and management
No USB 3.0 ports; Lacks true Cloud platform of D-Link/Linksys; Design not the most subtle
Kitguru says: With the potential of 1.3 Gbps data transfer rate this will be a fast performing router which will be perfect for the media savvy audience for years to come.
Performance of 5 GHz at close range is very impressive; Lots of great features; Extremely stable router; ASUS AiCloud incorporated; A future-proof wireless router
High price tag; 5 GHz speeds dropped off quite quickly with range; Can't get full speed out of the device with current technology
The Asus RT-AC66U is the best 802.11ac router out now. Read our Asus RT-AC66U review to find out why.
The Asus RT-AC66U is an 802.11ac dual-band Gigabit Ethernet router that provides extremely high-speed data. It also has two USB ports, so you can connect and share printers and external hard drives.
This replaced my DD-WRT -equipped Linksys WRT600N v1.1 router recently and I couldn't be happier. 2.4GHz performance is decent, not much improvement over the Linksys, but the improvement in range and speed in the whole house was a pleasant surprise.
Stability and reliability; 5GHz performance; range; fantastic WAN/LAN routing performance; changeable dual band antennas; modified firmware (Merlin) available; 3G/4G USB dongle support
Price; no 802.11ac mini-pcie adapters available yet
