Western Digital My Passport 2TB USB 3.0

Knowing that the USB 3.0 interface has a real-world bandwidth ceiling of around 400MB/s under ideal conditions, the limiting factor, in terms of raw speed, is going to be the 2TB mechanical drive.

small and powerful

i really liked the size of this item, and have trusted WD for some time. i needed some spare 1TB drives for backup/copies. these are easy to carry, plenty of space, built tough, and the color is nice, too.

WD My Passport Studio 640GB review

Passport is the rather apt name chosen by Western Digital for its range of portable hard drives. Not much bigger than the 2.5in notebook drives they contain, these pocket-sized storage devices are now more pocketable than ever, thanks to their extra-rounded corners – not to mention attractive...

Large capacity; Personalised e-label display; Three connection options: FireWire 400/800 and USB 2.0; Straightforward software for labelling; locking and backup; 256-bit hardware encryption

Only one FireWire port – no daisy-chaining; No carry case in the box

Western Digital My Passport Pro 2TB

The Western Digital My Passport Pro is a portable RAID array with a Thunderbolt port. Sadly, the My Passport Pro only has a Thunderbolt Port; there's no USB port, so you'll need a computer with a Thunderbolt port if you want to use it.

Fast and Good Looking! Worth every penny!

Western Digital's own product description (above) gives an accurate, no-exaggeration summary of this hard drive and I really can't take any issue at all with the claims they make for it.

Review: Western Digital My Passport

These tiny My Passport drives from Western Digital earn our recommendation for a few reasons. They're extremely small and portable, they're capable of both USB 2.0 and 3.0 speeds, and priced between $90 and $180, they're quite affordable.

Extreme portability; No external power supplies or power cables required; You can set up password protection and hardware encryption

Fast enough for everyday use, but not the fastest; Not the cheapest, either

Takes A Beating Like A Champ

This experience further cements WD's good name in my book.

I've owned this drive for 5 years, and gave it a lot of abuse; I've thrown it into backpacks, traveled with it, thrown it on the table, dropped it multiple times from desk height; The drive never skipped a beat; The last time I dropped it the plastic casing unsnapped , producing a gap in the body.

None that I can think of

Western Digital My Passport

Western Digital's My Passport is a portable hard drive that goes big on storage and slashes features back to the bare essentials. It packs oodles of capacity into it's compact, plasticky body, though, and its 2TB capacity providing 1.8TB of formatted space.
