Got it to replace the earlier 18-270 model. Extra range at both ends is nice, no noticeable sacrifice in quality - if anything it's better throughout the range. Might be a bit smaller and lighter as well. Perfect travel lens.

This 1 star is NOT a review of the product itself. This 1 star is because it says that the lens is for Sony Alpha cameras, but they fail to mention that it's not for the mirrorless Sony Alpha cameras, so please do take note of that.
Versatile lens, must say. Picture quality is good too. The best part is that you don't have to change the lens anymore. Amazed to see 16mm covers so much in frame. The macro is very good.
Perfect for all around uses.
Compact; High quality images; Versatile
a bit heavy
I have replaced Nikon 18-105mm and 70-300mm lens with this one. So far I am getting amazing result. The lens is quite durable and robust. Usage is quite smooth though initial few days the rings were bit tight, I think which is normal. Highly recommended.
Bought this lens because I didn't wanted to keep changing my lens every now and then. The lens works decently at all focal length ranges and becomes especially handy when travelling somewhere. This lens is capable of taking macro shots but the amount of noise increases as higher ISOs.
Before I start I must make the point that none of the images I have taken, when viewed at full width on a 1920x1080 monitor are by any means unacceptable. The quality does, however, deteriorate when viewed at 1:1 under certain conditions as I have tried to explain below.
Great Features; Lightweight; Simple Controls
Focus Shift; Soft Mid-range Zoom
Excellent lense with genuine USA 6 year warranty that was accepted by Tamron for warranty registration. Shipping was prompt but exterior package slightly damaged but interior Tamron box was OK.
Released in April 2014, Tamron's new 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro lens uses the same PZD (Piezo Drive) ultrasonic motor as the 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD lens we reviewed in March 2011.
This lens will replace your 18-55 and 55-200mm making your travel kit smaller. It is an APS-C (Crop-sensor) lens that gives you an effective zoom of 24mm - 450mm making it a very versatile lens.
