While I fully recognize that the electronics inside of this device are probably tiny in size, thus preventing the device from naturally having any real weight. Unfortunately this provides a "cheap" feel to the adapter.
This adapter is for people who want a low latency connection for their desktop pc's that cannot be connected via Cat5 or 6.
The physical dimensions of this adapter are slightly prohibitive if using this with a laptop machine; Beyond the obvious looks you will get because you have a enormous pair of rabbit ears sprouting from your laptop, it just generally gets in the way.
I use this with a TP-Link TL-ANT2414A 2.4GHz 14dbi Outdoor Directional Panel Antenna whilst on campsites This High Power Wireless USB Adapter can be set as an AP allowing more than one device to connect to the single connection allowed on some campsites.
I could not get this to work with an Asus T100TA laptop. I t would not work on the USB 3.0 port or the usb 2.0 port. I tried the drivers from the cd and from the web site. My machine ports are fine. I use them all the time for other devices.
The TP-Link TL-WN8200ND is a good gizmo to have if your laptop suffers from Wi-Fi signal issues. Read our TP-Link TL-WN8200ND review to find out more – UPDATED 25 June 2013, with revised wireless performance results.
it's ok. Didn't pick up many networks compared to the old unit I was using. Went back to using the old unit.
