SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC wired gaming headset review
The SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC sets a new standard for wired gaming headsets. Not only is it extremely well-designed and comfortable, but as far as audio quality goes, it sits above the rest. For audiophiles, anyway. There's also a wireless version of the headset.
SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC Review: Audiophile-Grade Gaming
Gaming consoles and PCs are always pushing for higher fidelity, so why shouldn't gaming headsets That's the idea behind the $249 SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC, a premium pair of cans built for gamers with discerning ears.- Superb design and comfort
- Hi-Res audio support
- Great overall sound quality
- Lots of customization options
- Expensive
- Made for the desk

SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC
The SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC is a great-sounding, comfortable gaming headset with its own DAC/mixer/controller. Its $250 price tag still feels a bit steep when compared with similarly priced, wireless headsets, but for serious competitive gamers the wired option and on-desk control can be...- Excellent audio quality
- Comfortable
- GameDAC offers handy controls
- Expensive for a wired headset
- Not quite as premium-feeling as similarly priced headsets
Steelseries Arctis Pro + GameDAC review
There's no question the Arctis Pro sounds great - and not just "sounds great for a gaming headset", either. The 'phones themselves produced a balanced sound with real clarity, instead of the bass-centric mush we've come to expect from most gamer-geared cans. The GameDAC is a handy way to get your music under control without having to dig into the software every time you want to make a tweak, and the built-in DAC is a genuine step up from integrated audio, too. Does it do enough to justify the cost, though? That depends if you have 24-bit tracks or a Tidal subscription to feed it with high quality audio. If you're truly serious about sound, you'd still want a pair of headphones for listening and a separate headset for games. For one pair that does both things very well, though, this certainly hits the spot.- Great sound quality for music and film, as well as games
- External DAC a step up from integrated audio
- Comfy fit
- LED lights are a bit lairy
- Expensive

Steelseries Arctis Pro + GameDAC Review

SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC
We were quite enamoured with the Arctis 3 Bluetooth headset we reviewed last month (you can read more about that here ), but since then SteelSeries has sent us an upgrade to take a closer look at.
Perfect!
Very comfortable to wear for long periods of time, the DTS 7.1 surround mode is awesome for both gaming and movies with surround audio. The Hi-Res (24-bit 96Khz) audio mode is like nothing I've heard before, if you listen to audio files of that quality they really come to life.
