One of the big reasons to get an interchangeable lens camera is for wide-angle photography. Some point and shoots go as wide as 23mm, but none match the 15-27mm (35mm equivalent) field of view that the Sony 10-18mm f/4 Wide-Angle Zoom Lens ($849.99 direct) delivers.
Quite sharp at wider angles; Fixed f/4 aperture.
Exhibits rectilinear distortion; Some softness at 18mm.
one of the best Nex-Lenses so far. I have tested it against Panasonic 7-14 mm an different other ww-zooms. feels solid, no massive distortions - great lens.
sharp; small; feels solid; good hood; black
large hood; not cheap

Handling and features An ultra wide angle zoom lens for Sony NEX cameras that provides an angle of view equivalent to a 15-27mm lens on a 35mm camera. The lens also sports a constant maximum aperture of f/4, optical image stabilisation and costs around £700.
While you usually don't really need a fast AF on such a lens, it is perfectly fine regarding speed as well as noise level. A still unusual feature on an ultra-wide lens is an optical image stabilizer.

Good build quality; Good performance when stopped down a little; Lightweight for a wide angle zoom; Low distortion
Lacklustre performance at maximum aperture between 14mm and 18mm; Some issues focusing accurately in low contrast and low light conditions
Great objective, good quality Was this review helpful?
Very quick delivery; PERFECT
I have this lens for about 2 weeks, so I am still all excited about using it. Have had the opportunity to take landscape pictures in deserts and very narrow spaces. Overall performance - great colors, very fast focus, very little distortion, almost no "fish-eye effect", very light (lighter than same...
fast focus; fixed 4.0f; noticeable but very little distortion
price; moving parts
First of all this is a high quality lens that I would definitely recommend to landscape and architectural photographers (assuming you have one of the alpha NEX series e-mount Sony cameras with APS-C size sensor). The first surprise involves distortion.
Durable; Easy To Use; Lightweight; Reliable
