It's one bad hombre! I'm still learning to use it. So far I'm very happy with it. It's very customizable. The next day air shipping from Crutchfield was a nice bonus.

Every camera you buy will have some sort of ceiling on what you can do with it. On low-end cameras, this ceiling becomes apparent pretty early – limitations in terms of frame-rate, autofocus points and body controls all make themselves felt, and can cost you shots.
Great video quality; Fast and flexible; Easy to master
Expensive; Battery life could be better
I bought this camera about a month ago I up graded from the Sony A77ii to the Sony A7iii and now to the A9 this is the a dream of a camera, I am retired hobby photographer of about 8 years experience so this A9 is way more than I need but I am not going back I am learning so much with this camera I...
There's quite a lot to take in when it comes to the amount of new features added on the Sony Alpha A9 camera, most of which are welcome inclusions. Sony has stepped up the capabilities of the mirrorless camera to compete against the strong points of the DSLR cameras, while also improving on what...
New 24MP sensor; 20fps silent burst shooting; 693-point AF; 4K video recording; Dual SD cards; Physical shortcuts; Numerous ports and connectivity options; USB charging
Not so great grip; Clumsy locking mechanism; Memory recall modes are cumbersome; USB 2.0; RAW video capture drops frame rate
I bought the a9 and FE 70~200 2.8 because it is 340g lighter than the similar high end DSLR and lens I have. The dials on top are really easy to use and are clear to read. Auto focus and tracking is fast and accurate, more options in the menu to get and store set ups.
Even with our squawks about the menu system, the Sony Alpha A9 is very special. For $4,500, it should be outstanding and we're happy to say it is. At this price, and with features like Ethernet built in, it's targeted to professional sports photographers, but anyone in need of a super fast camera...
20 fps continuous shooting; No-blackout viewfinder; 693-point AF system; Great image quality; Strong 4K video quality
Inscrutable menu system; Battery life still lags behind DSLRs
The Sony Alpha A9 bridges the gap further between DSLR and mirrorless cameras with its incredibly fast autofocus system and 20 frames per second burst mode
Best autofocus on a mirrorless camera; 20 FPS burst mode can be really helpful; Great ergonomics; Dual SD card slot
Max burst rate on mechanical shutter limited to 5fps; Second SD card slot not UHS compliant
The A9 is simply stunning, both as a technical achievement and as a tool for capturing fast-moving action. The silent 20fps continuous shooting mode can capture shots you would once have missed, and the AF system is complex but extremely effective. Bravo!
Completely silent 20fps mode; Fast and effective autofocus; No viewfinder blackout
Unbalanced with larger lenses; Shorter battery life than DSLRs; EVF is good but not perfect
Quite simply, the Sony A9 is quite probably the best camera on the market today across all types and categories.
20fps silent shooting; Full-frame sensor; Flip-up screen
Small body can feel unbalanced with larger lenses; Expensive; Relatively short battery life
A new My Menu feature lets you register up to 30 menu items for instant recall, arrange items in any order, and erase unused items. Also, primary menus have been reorganized for smoother search and operation.
