Agents of Mayhem review

Alan is an agent, and his mission is mayhem.

Some good banter from a fairly wild cast of characters; A couple of fun boss fights

Very repetitive; Many bugs; Interior levels are dull; Upgrades are too incremental; Some questionable mechanics

Great vast phenomenal game

Different from most open world games you actually feel like a hero in a comic

I looked forward to seeing what Volition would do with a new open-world franchise. They turned Saints Row into something much more unique than the franchise's GTA-inspired roots, and a new take on that universe could have been a great move for the developer.

Bad attitude.

Agents of Mayhem isn't subtle. The single-player action-adventure game from Saints Row developer Volition is all about being larger than life, with intense superhero-versus-supervillain combat and raunchy protagonists who drop F-bombs as much as they drop real bombs.

Wide variety of characters with different weapons and skills; Fast-flowing and explosive combat makes a great first impression

Storyline loaded with obnoxious characters and expletives guised as humor; Repetitive; monotonous mission design; Somewhat buggy; with problems accessing key features and issues with mission goals; Character upgrades fail to introduce meaningful depth

Agents of Mayhem

Volition's Agents of Mayhem ostensibly takes place in the Saints Row universe, but aside from this game's logo, appearances by Oleg and Pierce Washington, and an abundance of the color purple, one would be forgiven for not even noticing or caring about the connection.

Agents of Mayhem seems desperate to prove it's a standalone franchise, unfettered by the Saints Row series it was (very loosely) spun off from. Where the Saints offered irreverent, stylish lunacy that celebrated chaos with surprising doses of humanity, Agents of Mayhem offers something far more...

In all honesty, the Saints Row games became gaming junk food. They weren't master classes in design or anything like that, but they did offer a jolly good time. Saints Row offered players wacky and wild world to explore, managing to create some enjoyable oddball experiences.

Frantic combat; Interesting Agents; Deep customisation

Repetitive missions; Lives in Saints Row's shadow; Forgettable story

"Could be a lot better [spoilers]"

[spoilers] compared to the previous saints rows games, this is way less crazy than those. The graphics are fantastic (best played on PC or PS4 Pro for high frames) but a few things that are rather stingy make it less fun. The game is so easy to grind and finish the story.

Mediocre mayhem - Agents of Mayhem review

People talk about the difficulty of integrating comedy into video games ad nauseum, but few mention the fact that comedy ages in video games in ways that it doesn't in other mediums.

Moment to moment action is fun; Team concept is surprisingly enjoyable; Mindless fun at times

Concept deserves more than just "mindless fun; Does nothing with interesting environment; Mission design is painfully repetitive

Agents of Mayhem PS4 Review

It appears that Saints Row is no more, at least for now. In its place we have Agents of Mayhem , which is set in the same universe as Volition's crazy open world series, and even shares some of the elements from it.
