Sonic Mania

When Sonic Mania starts, you get a title screen just like in the old games and the ability to start a single-player game or play against a friend. This multiplayer part mirrors that of the old games, as the screen is split in two, and so you compete to get through the courses first, setting up other...

Sonic Mania Review

Still, even when stumbles a bit, it's only on little speedbumps in the road. For every issue I had, it didn't take long before I was enjoying myself again, eagerly anticipating what sort of wacky wonders the game would throw at me next.

I looked forward to seeing what Volition would do with a new open-world franchise. They turned Saints Row into something much more unique than the franchise's GTA-inspired roots, and a new take on that universe could have been a great move for the developer.

Sonic Mania review – by the fans, for the fans

A touching, and highly playable, labour of love by fans that understand Sonic The Hedgehog better than Sega ever has in the last 20+ years.

Gorgeous pixel artwork and excellent level design in terms of both new and remastered zones; Tons of options, great remixed music, and amazing value for money

The remastered stages are all very good; but it's a pity they outnumber the brand new ones

"Could be a lot better [spoilers]"

[spoilers] compared to the previous saints rows games, this is way less crazy than those. The graphics are fantastic (best played on PC or PS4 Pro for high frames) but a few things that are rather stingy make it less fun. The game is so easy to grind and finish the story.

Sonic Mania Review – A Faster, Masterful Remaster

Like the Kevin Smith version of A New Hope I imagine almost daily, Sonic Mania is a game made by fans, for fans. And that's not a bad thing. Newcomers may be turned off by the intermittent difficulty spikes, but others may finally understand why many childhoods were spent looking for a kid who had a...

Eggscellent Level Design; Eggsceptional Art Style; Feels like Sonic

Sonic Mania review

1992 is alive and well. Christian Whitehead and team turn in a beautiful rewrite of the 16-bit Sonic games with all-new stages.

Agents of Mayhem Review

If any other developer followed a game like Saints Row IV with Agents of Mayhem, they'd be accused of resting on their laurels. In Volition's case, I don't even think that's possible. They might be st

Fun; diverse characters; Shooting is slick and enjoyable; Genuinely funny

Not much mission variety in the campaign; Story is nothing special; Occasional frame rate issues

Mediocre mayhem - Agents of Mayhem review

People talk about the difficulty of integrating comedy into video games ad nauseum, but few mention the fact that comedy ages in video games in ways that it doesn't in other mediums.

Moment to moment action is fun; Team concept is surprisingly enjoyable; Mindless fun at times

Concept deserves more than just "mindless fun; Does nothing with interesting environment; Mission design is painfully repetitive
