The Sennheiser HD650 has been around for a while and has certainly achieved a high reputation among both domestic and professional users. It's a smart, no-nonsense model with oval earpieces which seem to fit snugly on every head we tried.

A stunning piece of kit that'll bring the very best out of your CD collection
Incredible sound quality whatever you throw at them; great build quality
Pricey; only for hi-fi nuts
I was like a lot of audiophiles starting out. I had a below $100 pair of headphones and thought it couldn't get much better than that. I looked at headphones like the HD650 and thought their pricetag, which is a hefty sum to most, couldn't be justified.
High-quality warm sound signature; Good imaging; Comfortable; Replaceable parts
Not the best build; Clamp is too tight at first; Not for trebleheads or bassheads
I got these on craigslist lightly used (I think he said like 40 hours of use or less) in the original package and original everything and in perfect condition for $250. Half off is a blast. If I didn't get this good of a deal I would have got the HD 598s.
These are 300 ohm headphones so you need a headphone amplifier that is a given; Luckily, my MSI Gaming 6 has 2 headphone amplifiers built in and can handle 500 ohm headphones; I had the Oppo PM3 planar magnetic headphones before this.
These do feel a little fragile, so for $500, they should maybe have a little higher build quality, but I doubt I'll break them; Maybe that is why these are so awesomely light weight; Just be careful
These have been good for me. My wife is often annoyed by the sound of TV or music that I enjoy. The HD650 was for me to make sure that she was insulated from what I usually listen to. The headphones are now on their way to Sennheiser in Old Lyme CT for repair.
I have had these headphones for about 4 months now and can safely say they are the best headphones I've ever owned. I will start by saying these headphones are NOT meant for use with an iPod or other MP3 players. An iPod only has enough power to properly power small headphones.
Fantastic sounding; comfortable
Large; not very portable
The sound is amazing and the comfort is superb. I was not expecting that they were designed to allow the listener to hear through the earphones to what is going on around them. This is perfect for me and means I can wear them for extended periods of time and not constantly be pulling on them to hear...
i thought i had to write a review on these headphones , just in case anyone is in 2 minds to purchas
stunning sound; comfortable fit even after wearing for a long time, superb build quality
none i can think of
Great sounding headphones!. As we know HP are subjective to ones listening taste. Wanted a pair that were not too clinical and flat, last thing i wanted was to come home after a hard day and start an analytical listening session.
These headphones are probably not for you! They will produce excellent quality sound (one of the very best headphones at any price) but they really need a proper headphone amp and an excellent source to make the most of their potential and most people have never heard of a headphone amp and use mp3s...
Lets you hear your music at it's best
Just be sure your music's best is good enough! Really NEEDS a headphone amp
