While QNAP might not be as well known a manufacturer as companies like Western Digital or Netgear, the excellent design and hardware in this budget NAS are undeniable. It has two bays that work with both 3.5 and 2.5 inch drives, giving you support for hard disk drives and solid state drives.
Installing the 2 HDD's was super simple though the software setup was convoluted and not intuitive. I had to contact their tech support, who set it up for me once I explained how I wanted it done and how I planned on using it.
QNAP's TS-*31P series have been designed for SOHO use and is ideal for home or small office users who are not looking for an all singing all dancing multimedia NAS but still need reasonable performance get the basics done.

Very easy to setup and control. Took about an hour to setup shares and permissions, once the storage was initialised. Lots of 3rd party apps to make use much easier.... 10/10
