Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 Lens - Brand New review

Slightly better cameras but otherwise, not much of an update - buy the iPhone 14 Pro or switch to Android instead

Better low-light photography, Slightly longer battery life, Action mode gives super stabilised video

The same performance as the iPhone 13, No Dynamic Island or Always-On display, 60Hz screen

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4

Thanks to Lensrentals for providing the Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 for review.

Quite sharp; Bright f/1.4 aperture; Minimal distortion; Focus clutch and aperture ring; Dust and splash protection

Big for a 50mm; Expensive; Aperture ring doesn't de-click; No fluorine coat

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 Review

Panasonic's first full-frame mirrorless cameras are bulkier than competitors, so it's no surprise that some of its lenses follow suit. The company's first L-mount prime, the Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 ($2,299.99), is in that category. It's larger than other 50mm f/1.4 designs for mirrorless systems, but backs up its girth with excellent optics. That said, while it's not a native mirrorless lens and isn't shipping at press time, Sigma is accepting orders for an L-mount version of its 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art, an Editors' Choice winner and priced at just $949. A Big Prime As photographers have demanded better lenses to match modern, high-resolution sensors, the size of the typical 50mm f/1.4 lens has grown. But the Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 is on the large side even by modern standards. It measures 5.2 by 3.5 inches (HD), supports 77mm front filters, and weighs 2.1 pounds. Compare that with the Sigma 50mm ($948.99 at Amazon) , which supports the same filter size, but is a little smaller (3.9 by...

The Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 is a standard prime with few flaws, but it's is larger and priced higher than similar lenses for competing systems.

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 Lens - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 comes to market with the same launch price as the previous generation. At the same time, iPhone connoisseurs were more than disillusioned after the presentation of the new smartphone. Apple leaves large parts of the hardware unchanged and does not dare to change the design.

Top performance level despite last year's chip, Very high quality workmanship, Improved image and video quality, Excellent battery life

Hardly any innovations, Charging takes too long for 2022

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 Lens - Brand New review

A slight camera upgrade, new emergency features, and... not a whole lot else

Better selfie camera, Good battery life, Crash detection and satellite SOS are neat

It’s more like an iPhone 13S, Display is still 60Hz, eSIM transition will be easy for most but painful for some

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 Lens - Brand New review

It’s a great handset, but the improvements are so iterative that most of you will hardly notice what’s new.

Action mode offers truly superb video stabilization. eSIM makes it easy to switch phones (with other iPhones). Satellite SOS and Crash Detection add peace of mind.

Many of the specs remain the same as on the iPhone 13. Small battery gains. Photonic Engine isn’t as revolutionary as suggested.

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 Lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 isn’t a huge upgrade on the iPhone 13, yet it still is a great phone with a top camera, good battery life and all the iOS benefits.

Clever safety features, Very good battery life, Reliable camera, Fun colours, You’ve got an ageing iPhone: If you’re on an iPhone 11 or older, then the changes here will make a notable difference.

Stuck on a 60Hz display, Minimal differences to the iPhone 13, You’ve got an iPhone 13: The changes from Apple’s previous phone aren’t enough to warrant an upgrade this year.

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 Lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 Lens - Brand New review

“The iPhone 14 isn't a huge upgrade compared to its predecessor. But with a great design, screen, performance, and cameras, that's far from a bad thing at all.”

Comfortable, high-end build, OLED screen looks fantastic, A15 chip performs great, Good camera upgrades, Dependable battery life, Helpful safety features

60Hz display, No telephoto camera, eSIM might be a pain for some

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 Lens - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 isn’t much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it’s still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades
