As already hinted above the Lumix lens is dwarfish and as such it leaves a very subjective impression of lacking "substance". However, objectively the build quality is actually very fine thanks to very tight tolerances, good quality plastics and a metal mount.
While both this (14-45) and the 14-42 were first issued as kit lenses and neither would be considered prime, recall that the only "kit" this lens was ever on was an original G. It is, in my opinion, a far superior zoom for this range and my GX7 loves it. BTW, I kinda' like it as well.

Handling for the 14-45mm lens is excellent thanks to an unfussy design and a logical layout, both of which echo the appearance of Leica's Micro Four Thirds 45mm prime lens. The zoom ring is wider and closest to the camera body, pushing the narrower focusing ring further forwards.
