Panasonic Leica DG SUMMILUX 15mm/F1.7 ASPH Lens review

It’s a great handset, but the improvements are so iterative that most of you will hardly notice what’s new.

Action mode offers truly superb video stabilization. eSIM makes it easy to switch phones (with other iPhones). Satellite SOS and Crash Detection add peace of mind.

Many of the specs remain the same as on the iPhone 13. Small battery gains. Photonic Engine isn’t as revolutionary as suggested.

Panasonic Leica DG SUMMILUX 15mm/F1.7 ASPH Lens review

Slightly better cameras but otherwise, not much of an update - buy the iPhone 14 Pro or switch to Android instead

Better low-light photography, Slightly longer battery life, Action mode gives super stabilised video

The same performance as the iPhone 13, No Dynamic Island or Always-On display, 60Hz screen

Panasonic Leica 15mm f1.7

The Leica Summilux 15mm f1.7 is a semi-wide lens designed for the Micro Four Thirds system. Mounted on a Panasonic or Olympus body, it delivers equivalent coverage of 30mm, making it a mild wide-angle roughly between the traditional 28 and 35mm focal lengths.

Sharp, high contrast, well-corrected images; Better than 17mm f1.8, Attractive out-of-focus rendering / bokeh, Good build quality with matching metal lens hood supplied, Manual aperture ring for bodies that support it, Barrel doesn't protrude below base of Lumix GM1

More expensive than primes of a similar focal length in range; Manual focusing ring was not always as smooth as I expected; No weather-sealing; Aperture ring redundant for Olympus body owners

REVIEW: Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 Review

This new wide angle prime lens for Micro Four thirds system cameras sports a fast f/1.7 maximum aperture, Nano Surface anti-reflective coatings, a manual aperture ring and a switch for directly changing between manual and autofocus modes without halving to delve into the camera's menu.

Panasonic 15mm f/1.7 ASPH Leica DG SUMMILUX review by Prime Minister

When I first heard about this lens, I hoped for better optical performance than the current Micro Four Thirds autofocus prime lenses like the Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 and the Olympus 17mm f/1.8. The Panasonic 15mm f/1.7 lens doesn't disappoint.

Panasonic Leica DG SUMMILUX 15mm/F1.7 ASPH Lens review

Hannah Stryker / Review Geek The iPhone 14 is the latest iteration of Apple’s flagship device. Since its launch, the iPhone has set the standard of what a smartphone is, what it does, and how it looks. Fifteen years later, it’s still doing that.

Top-notch cameras, Amazing display, Snappy performance, Great battery life

It's just "this year's iPhone"

Panasonic Leica DG SUMMILUX 15mm/F1.7 ASPH Lens review

The iPhone 14 isn't much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it's still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades

Panasonic Leica DG SUMMILUX 15mm/F1.7 ASPH Lens review

The iPhone 14 is very similar to the iPhone 13, which itself was very similar to the iPhone 12. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad phone — it’s just less of an upgrade for anyone using a phone that’s only two years old.
