Overcooked! 2 is everything I wanted from a sequel to one of the better couch co-op games out there with online multiplayer, varied levels, recipes that drive you mad, and more.
Absolutely mad fun solo or co-op; Great level variety; New recipes and mechanics are very good; Online works well
Some levels feel unfair solo; Could have a better tutorial/practice for recipes
I like food - perhaps a little too much. Although I am a notoriously picky eater, those times I break out of my comfort zone and try new things ends with me finding a new favorite dish. It even inspires me to want to cook more at home, rather than spending precious money on going out all the time.
As a concept, Overcooked is simple, but ridiculously fun. There's a wealth of co-op games available, especially on the Switch these days, but none are as fast paced or as hectic as Overcooked.
Before writing about video games, I spent over three years working in the food service industry. And more often than not, I hated it. The stress of preparing other people's grub on a deadline is the type of looming anxiety I still have nightmares about and, despite the lessons I learned, am glad to...
Fantastic cooperative gameplay that encourages and rewards teamwork; Level design and mechanics constantly change and keep the game fresh; Catchy; lighthearted soundtrack that ratchets up the tension when appropriate; Works just as brilliantly; but differently; with two; three; and four players
No retry option on the level results screen; Tags
Brimming with charm and immediately accessible – while still harbouring a degree of mastery if you put the time in – Ghost Town Games' sequel is impossible to dislike and again flies the flag proudly for the lost art of couch co-op gaming.
Over the years, I have heard a lot about Overcooked and how fun it could get playing with friends or family; however my knowledge of it was only second-hand thus far. With a piqued interest and need for something to play with my youngest brother I decided to finally give Overcooked 2 a go and see if...
Appealing Visual Style; Simple Controls and UI; Different Environments and Obstacles Mix Things Up; Can be picked up and played Solo; local or online; Easy to Learn but Challenging to Master
Can Get a Tiny Bit Frustrating
Buy Overcooked 2 At a time when the local co-op option in games is becoming increasingly rare, it's difficult to find an excellent local co-op experience. When the first Overcooked came along in 2016, it was a pure co-op game based on kitchen prep and cooking meals, so it instilled hope that there's...
Last year I reviewed Overcooked, an action game where you and a bunch of chefs try to prepare food and fill orders in kitchen mazes as fast as possible. It was pretty popular, and definitely one of the better recent indie titles.
Have not gotten through the game but thus far, its been a blast playing it with my girlfriend definetly entertaining. Also if you want to work on your communication skills with your s/o this is a great game to play just be cautious you may end up in small arguments.
