You do not need any extensions to get 1:1 (life-size) magnification (equivalent to 2x on a 35mm camera). You can bring this compact lens everywhere, and enjoy taking close-up pictures in your daily scenes, such as, flowers and insects.

Don't waste your money

Broke down after very few uses, would not focus. Sent for repair at Olympus came back with the same fault, returned to Olympus for second repair lasted two shots, gave up with this very poor lens.

Excellent Lens

This makes a huge difference for close-ups. This is a standard four thirds lens (not micro four thirds), which I use with a micro four thirds-to-four thirds converter, on an EM-1 body, and all controls work perfectly (i.e., auto focus and other controls). The quality of the photos is excellent, too.

Great value and Excellent Quality

Used primarily for taking macro photos for metal and jewelry, this lens easily does what it advertises. At half the price of the other options and easily changed out, we couldn't ask for more.

Olympus Zuiko Digital 35mm f3.5 Macro

Invariably it's the sensor size and the Four Thirds format that dominates any discussions about Olympus's E-series cameras, but what many may not realise is the depth and strength of the lens line-up behind it.

Excellent Macro lens Very Sharp

Primarily used for very close to subject macro photo. Very sharp lens with good depth of field on very close tiny objects. Auto focus will hunt when subject ius extremely close and complex. Manual focus is easily available to counter this.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Light but sturdy; Lightweight; Nice Bokeh; Rugged; Strong Construction

Auto focus hunts

I would buy this lens again without hesitation. An excellent choice. A+++++

This lens is an excellent choice from the Zuiko range of macro lenses. I decided on this lens rather than the faster 50mm F2 because this did 1/1 with out a tube behind it where as the 50mm F2 requires a tube to give full 1/1 ratio. It is also an excellent portrait lens being 70mm equiv.

Olympus 35mm f/3.5 Zuiko Digital Macro review by Yemm66

This is the more cost effective Olympus macro lens available for the four thirds system. It is astonishingly sharp with outstanding color reproduction. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful the color is from this lens.

Clarity; color reproduction; Light Weight; Sharpness

Slow focus at times; Hunts for focus
