The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f/2.8 Lens ($299.99) is a compact prime lens for use with Olympus PEN and other Micro Four Thirds cameras . The optic produces a field of view that equates to 34mm in 35mm photography, a very useful and popular wide-angle field of view.
Gary Wolstenholme reviews the compact Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f/2.8 Pancake Lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras.
Very good sharpness overall; Good build quality; Lightweight; Compact; Reasonably priced
High levels of barrel distortion; High levels of CA
The Olympus M:ZUIKO Digital 17mm f/2.8 is an adorable, tiny lens that looks great on any compatible camera, especially the retro Olympus PEN E-P1 and E-P2 for which it was designed. Optically though, it's a bit of a mixed bag.
nice, but needs hood ,be carefull for sidelight !!!
ok
needs hood
The Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm f/2.8 Lens is a short barrelled, flat camera lens, also known as a pancake lens ideal for Micro Four Thirds cameras like Olympus Pen etc. The lens is a medium wide angle lens ideal for panoramic views and street photography.
Excellent design and build quality; great focus
Images not uniformly sharp and give less accurate results at the corners
Pancake lenses are designed to offer a much slimmer profile than a regular lens, with just a small compromise in maximum aperture. This 17mm f2.8, then is a classic example, and the 2x focal factor of the Micro Four Thirds format means that it's equivalent to a 34mm, which is pretty much a standard...
Don't know for whom is it good for. Not very sharp, not fast. Not my lens. At last, to pricey for the construction.
AF; f:2,8; cheap plastics, no hood
I absolutely love this lens. I am a beginner when it comes to photography but this has been such a versatile purchase. It's amazing for casual shooting and the quality is amazing it almost all types of light.
I have never really shoot a lot of primes except on my M6. I never saw the point as sharp and fast as zooms are now a days. But I was pleasently suprised at how quick I feel in love with this lens. 17mm or 34mm equvilent seems to be the perfect focal lenght for me.
Small; fast; sharp; contrsty
None what so ever
