Olympus 9mm f/8 Fisheye Lens Cap - Review / Lens Test Report

A while ago we reviewed the Olympus 15mm f/8 Lens Cap but, honestly, we weren't all that impressed. After all, there are several available pancake lenses around this focal length so there is a rather limited appeal in such an offering in our opinion.

Olympus Fisheye Body Cap 9mm f/8 Lens - Brand New review

A formal test of the Olympus 9mm f/8 Fisheye Lens Cap is a bit unfair, of course. After all Olympus doesn't even list it in the range of lenses on their website - it's merely mentioned as a camera accessory thus also the "Lens Cap" name.

Olympus Fisheye Body Cap 9mm f/8 Lens - Brand New review

Slightly better cameras but otherwise, not much of an update - buy the iPhone 14 Pro or switch to Android instead

Better low-light photography, Slightly longer battery life, Action mode gives super stabilised video

The same performance as the iPhone 13, No Dynamic Island or Always-On display, 60Hz screen

Olympus Fisheye Body Cap 9mm f/8 Lens - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 comes to market with the same launch price as the previous generation. At the same time, iPhone connoisseurs were more than disillusioned after the presentation of the new smartphone. Apple leaves large parts of the hardware unchanged and does not dare to change the design.

Top performance level despite last year's chip, Very high quality workmanship, Improved image and video quality, Excellent battery life

Hardly any innovations, Charging takes too long for 2022

Olympus Fisheye Body Cap 9mm f/8 Lens - Brand New review

A slight camera upgrade, new emergency features, and... not a whole lot else

Better selfie camera, Good battery life, Crash detection and satellite SOS are neat

It’s more like an iPhone 13S, Display is still 60Hz, eSIM transition will be easy for most but painful for some

Olympus Fisheye Body Cap 9mm f/8 Lens - Brand New review

It’s a great handset, but the improvements are so iterative that most of you will hardly notice what’s new.

Action mode offers truly superb video stabilization. eSIM makes it easy to switch phones (with other iPhones). Satellite SOS and Crash Detection add peace of mind.

Many of the specs remain the same as on the iPhone 13. Small battery gains. Photonic Engine isn’t as revolutionary as suggested.

Olympus 9mm f/8.0 Fisheye Body Cap Lens

There are probably more reasons for owners of Olympus CSCs to invest in this lens than the previous 15mm Body Cap lens provided. For starters, the local price is very much closer to the US online price (and probably close enough to make it cheaper to buy locally than importing it as discounting...

I would recommend this product

This is our first ultra wide lens, so I have nothing to compare with. As the price was reasonable we thought it was worth buying, To our surprise it really is an amazing bargain.

Lightweight; Simple Controls

Flimsy Construction

Olympus Fisheye Body Cap Lens 9mm Review

The Olympus Fisheye Body Cap Lens 9mm is the fish-eye lens for photographers who aren't sure if they want one. At $99.99, it's an easy purchase to make, and its slim, light design makes it a fine choice for any Micro Four Thirds camera. Now, its optics aren't perfect—the center is sharp, but edge quality suffers and there's a lot of color fringing in high-contrast areas of the frame—but you do get what you pay for. If you're looking for a fish-eye lens with superb optics, consider instead the Olympus M.Zuiko ED 8mm F1.8 Fisheye PRO ($999.00 at Amazon) or the Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm F3.5 ($797.99 at Amazon) . DesignLike the similar Body Cap Lens 15mm ($49.59 at Staples) , the Fisheye Body Cap ($99.99 at Amazon)  is really small and light. It measures just 0.5 by 2.2 inches (HD) and weighs about an ounce. Its barrel is all plastic, including the lens mount, with a simple glass lens with a fixed f/8 aperture. That narrow f-stop means that you'll have to push your ISO high or e...

The Olympus Fisheye Body Cap Lens 9mm doesn't have the greatest optics, but it's a fine choice for photographers who want a fish-eye look that won't break the bank.

Inexpensive; Wide field of view; Crisp center; Slim and light

Blurry edges; Noticeable color fringing

Olympus Fisheye Body Cap 9mm f/8 Lens - Brand New review

When we started testing the Olympus 9mm f/8 Fisheye Body Cap lens, we fully expected it to perform at the level of “toy lenses;” but this ultra-thin, ultra-lightweight lens has surprised us with more than decent images that only suffer from soft corners and comparatively high levels of chromatic...
