The smoked chrome accents and glass buttons on Nokia's newest business handset make you wonder what kind of business, exactly, the Finns had in mind when they designed the thing. Maybe this is the phone the high-class-escort set has been clamoring for.

A magnificent piece of hardware, with Vertu-level build quality; Nice form factor: thin enough to disappear in your pocket but large enough for a 2.5-inch screen; Upgraded processor runs S60 even more snappily than the N95 8GB; Automatic screen orientation; Finger-friendly textured keys.

Mullet mode adds yet another level of menus under which to bury functions; Arrgh! Swanky metal backplate gets hand-scaldingly hot; Road warriors will scoff at the battery life: around three hours of talk time (con Bluetooth).

The Gadget: The Nokia E66 , a slim but luxurious GSM slider smartphone running Symbian S60, with Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G and a 3.2MP camera, to name a few of its many features.

It's raining Nokia S60 smartphones here lately, and we were lucky enough to receive the US version of the recently announced but not yet released Nokia E66 for review. The US version is a quad band unlocked GSM phone with US 3G HSDPA on the 850/1900MHz bands.

It's not often that Nokia releases a new range of business phones, and when it does you'd better sit up and take notice. The last time round, it was the E61 that had us in raptures, with its Blackberry-beating keyboard and good range of software and features.

Nokia's E66 is one of the company's latest additions to its Eseries of business smartphones. The E66 includes features like WiFi, a 3.2 megapixel AF camera, and Nokia's famous S60 web browser. We put it through its paces in this review and like what we find.

Review The next-gen version of the E65 slider is longer, but slimmer, and packs in a 3.2 megapixel camera, push email, HSDPA, AGPS, more memory and better battery life – all in a good-looking package.
