Nokia C5

Nokia is good at making simple candybar phones and the C5 is a good example. The handset is made from a combination of plastic and aluminium, which feels pretty light in the hands. Our review unit came in the white version with a metallic silver band that runs along the sides of the device.

Excellent keypad Good set of connectivity features Free real-time navigation with Ovi Maps Good battery life Snappy performance

A few minor design flaws Doesn't support Wi-Fi Camera doesn't have autofocus

Nokia C5 review

We've now published our review of the updated touchscreen version of this phone, the Nokia C5-03 , so check it out if you're into a bigger screen and fewer keys. In a world where the attention tends to go to ever more advanced smartphones like the HTC Desire and Apple iPhone , it's easy to forget...

Nokia C5 review Review

The handsome C5 is a cheap, old-school phone with some modern features thrown in, and the end result is very pleasant indeed. Big keys make it easy to bash out texts, 3G connectivity enables speedy Web browsing, and the interface is clear and straightforward.

Simple interface; Massive; comfy buttons; Great build quality; 3G support

No Wi-Fi connectivity; Occasionally disruptive pop-up messages

Nokia C5 review

The Nokia C5 won't get you excited, but if you're after a relatively inexpensive smartphone and aren't interested in touchscreens then it may be worth a look.

Although threatened by Apple, Blackberry and Android in the high-end smartphone market, Nokia still has a firm grip on the budget market. The C5 is a simple handset that ticks all the boxes, but is it worth the asking price?

: Design; Build quality : Plastic screen smudges and scratches easily; Cluttered interface; Mediocre image quality; No Wi-Fi; Poor viewing angles

Nokia C5

Nokia can rightfully pride itself on having conquered the budget mobile phone market, even if its recent high-end touchscreen smartphones haven't been able to compete with the best. Hoping to continue this heritage is the C5, a simple candybar handset available for under £150.

Also, the C5's display becomes hard to read at certain angles.

Cost is too high

The phone built quality is good. The back panel is made of steel which is a good one. It has a 3 mp camera with led flash and can take only upto 480p pictures and as the phone is a keypad set and the screen size is 2.2" so the photos are not so clear when you transer to other devices or pcs.
