This is my 3rd SB-R200 that I'm using in my macro photography. Very happy with them - small easily adjustable, all the power you need for small work, good refresh rate and wireless connection.

If your camera is compatible with CLS, and D-70 started out with the SB-R200 and the R1C1 unit.R1C1/R1 is the way I'm working with D-300, for close-up. The remote kit.You may have to set your flash up in your camera 'Menu'.But I think you can use the pop up flash as a commander.

I use this product in my pediatric office to take Macro photos for skin lesions and other diseases. In the past, when I tried to take close-up or macro pics, the photo would be overexposed when I took it with a flash, and too dark without a flash. the SB-R200 is a wonderful solution to this.
I reviewed the R1 system under macro gear. If you have a Nikon that supports the commander/wireless feature- and if you like getting up close & personal with your subjects- go no further. The system is simple, flexible, and offers perfect exposure. I can't say enough about the new system.
fantastic little strobe with the R1 kit
