I have been impressed by the photos that I have taken. It is a very sharp lens and it is even sharper than the 50mm 1.8 af that I have. It takes superb macro photos. It has difficulty focusing at 1:1 magnification but the manual focus is easy.

This is a must have macro lens. And it is just that, a macro lens, although it can be used for general and portrait use as well. So I'm going to limit my comments to what it does well and not worry about things like the aperture ring which is a non-issue but freaks out some less experienced users.
A great general purpose macro lens for those who don't want or need to specialize in that field. Great "bang for the buck"
Excellent value; construction and optical performance
slight "slop" in the focus ring
I was lucky enough to find one of these lenses second hand in very good condition to enable me to use it on both my D800 and D7200 bodies. I've not been disappointed. It's a beautifully sharp lens, light, easy to carry and gives great results. I'm delighted with it.
Consistent Output; Lightweight; Rugged; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction
If ever there was a lens to strike a substantial blow for fixed focal length lenses vs. zoom lenses, then the AF-D 60mm f2.8 Micro is just such a lens. Although often appearing as a purely specialist short focal length macro lens, this lens works extremely well with everyday subjects at normal...
I picked up a used 60mm D on eBay last year, and though I also own the 105 VR and intend to get the 200mm micro, I am loving this 60D lens on my Df. I thought about the G version, and I have both G and D lenses in my kit.
I purchased this lens to succeed my previous non-digital 60mm Nikkor AF Micro lens. I've just received this lens, but can tell it will become one of my favorites. The 60mm focal length is excellent for portraits, and it makes a comfortable focal length for macro photography as well.
Fast focusing; sharp images; excellent macro function
Slightly heavy; but it feels solid
I bought this lens for carrying in my backpack when hiking, as it's about half the weight of the 105mm VR Micro-Nikkor. The quality of the images produced by this lens on my D7000 is superb, with sharp focus and brilliant colours.
