I should not be let loose in a camera store. I had been looking at this lens for a couple months now, before having a chance to pick it up at a decent price (they're close to 1,500 here in Canada) and visiting B&H in NYC a nice Grey Market one came up for under a grand so I had to pick it up.

This is the finest portrait lens I've ever used and I can't stop gushing about it. The picture quality is fantastic and it's increasingly more exciting to use everyday. Compared to a handful of other lenses I've tried and used, this is by far the best.
Pros:
- Superb images Tough build
Cons:
- A little big and heavy

Superb quality Lens
This is a great lens. It takes a while to master the defocus control but is well worth the effort. Nikon will probably discontinue this lens at some stage in the future but whilst it is an expensive item is worth the outlay and will increase in value when no longer available.

I bought this lens over 10 years ago. The construction is impressive. It is very solid. Using it with film it was difficult to appreciate the advantages of DC. With a DSLR the advantages are immediately evident. - At f2 it is a fast telephoto. Shooting in available light is good.

Great, sturdy, sharp lens. Must to have prime lens.
Great, sharp lens. A very good lens you don't want to miss. Work very well with my Nikon D90. Sturdy look like a piece of American military item.

Wonderful with D7100
Thought I'd add on to my prior review. Upgraded to a D7100. Shot two swim meets with the D7100/105 DC. I like this combo a lot. Imagine shooting with an impossibly light 210mm f2...with the 1.3 crop mode that's what you get. Focus is bang on every time.
