I wanted a smaller lighter weight pair of bins that came in with 10x. I bought these in May 2018. These fit the bill. Been with Nikon camera systems since 1967 and into photography 59 yrs. I know what it means to own good glass.

The Nikon Monarch 7 series of binoculars was launched on the market in the middle of 2012. At first the producer offered just two models: the 8x42 and the 10x42. In 2013 the series was enlarged by other two small and handy devices: the 8x30 and the 10x30.
small; handy and shapely casing; wide angle of view; sensible transmission; good correction of chromatic aberration; proper correction of astigmatism; slight coma; slight light fall-off on the edge of the field of view; good colour rendition; sharp image already from 1.65 metres; good quality...
sharpness level on the very edge could have been better; a bit truncated pupils
Really good quality considering the low price. Fine sharpness, brightness and field of view. Good focusing distance, can be ideally used for the study also butterflies. In addition, the telescope is very easy, and feels mechanically stable and hearty.
Having used a Swarovski 8.5x42 EL SV, it was a great comparison with this Nikon. Image quality and brightness is outstanding. Depth of field actually better than the Swarovski's. However it's not a flat field, and that's where the big difference is. In addition eye placement is important as well.
These binoculars have outstanding light transmission, color rendition and clarity (resolution). The build quality is excellent, and they are light enough to carry around all day. My only real problem with them, and the reason I didn't give them 5 stars, is the noticeable chromatic aberration along...
Good quality construction. Clear and crisp images. Some blurriness around edge. Focus wheel is smooth and easy to use. For the price they are a great value.
I have had these for 6 months now and have used them in many environments, mainly for birdwatching. They are great. The field of view is surprisingly large and they are brighter than I was expecting. They are so easy to pack and take with you, almost do not know they are round your neck.
Small, light, waterproof and excellent optics for the money. Only one small minus point: the next strap design is complicated so difficult to fit and instructions for doing so not much help.
My money says yes. Startlingly bright- I'm getting more transmission than my older 8x40s with this binocular. And small enough to fit in a jacket pocket, to boot. The focus is precise enough to let you scan into brush using the focus wheel.
