Though the 100-3200 ISO range of the Nikon D3100 appears conservative on paper, there's the option of expanding this to Hi1 (ISO 6400) and Hi2 (ISO 12800) if required.  Fitted with the 18-55mm image stabilised kit lens, it offers a focal length range that's equivalent to 27-82.5mm in film terms.

The D3100 is the latest incarnation of a line of cameras that – if we're brutally honest – we find a bit annoying. In an effort not to bamboozle first-time SLR users, it presents most photographic options via the LCD screen and navigation pad.

The bottom end of Nikon's formidable DSLR line-up has never looked so tempting. The D3100's build quality is up to Nikon's intimidating reputation, with the possible exception of the rather wobbly pop-up flash.

The camera is in good condition. I liked it. However, there is a material inside the lens which is making sound when the lenses are moved as if a part of the lenses is ripped.Plus the Lcd screen is obscured within seconds if not used and I need to start from scratch in case of adjusting settings.

This is the first "nice" digital camera our family has purchased. So far we are very happy with the quality of the camera, the photos it takes, the battery life and the video option.

Need to buy better lens

I purchased this camera to take on vacation. I take a lot of pictures, but am not an expert my any means. This camera is easy to use and take clear pictures. Anybody that purchases this camera will be happy with the results!

Though I didn't purchase this camera from Radio Shack, I am absolutely THRILLED with it! I absolutely love it - it's portable, easy to use, and takes fantastic photos. The only problem is that when using live view or shooting video, the battery eats up pretty quick.

Short Battery Life

Just purchased the Nikon D3100 DSLR kit at Best Buy. Great camera, not only are all the manual features there and easily manipulated, it also works well in full auto (as a point and shoot).

it is the best camera for the money its cost. surely there are better cameras, but being my first dslr, i think it is the best option. maybe be necesary purchase an extra lens, the 18-55 kit is good but a little limited.
