The 055 is one of the most popular tripods and has been overhauled with a 100% carbon fibre centre column.
Pros:

Cons:
- Lighter weight could reduce sturdiness

Excellent Product!
This a must have tripod if you are looking for something that is sturdy as well as lightweight. I know it comes with a heavy price tag but thats what you have to pay for traveling light. If weight is not an issue get the 055XPROB which is also an excellent product that comes at 10k!

Very light and easy for my husband to carry!
This is my first tripod for many years as in the past I thought they were a complete waste of time. But now I am more interested in long exposure shots and this one fits the bill. I would like to also state that I am very impressed with Camerasdirect as I ordered the tripod on Friday and it arrived...

Works perfect for getting optics over bench
Used with the Manfrotto 553 angle bracket it will allow spotting scope or binoculars to be right where you need them when shooting rockchucks or prairie dogs.

Study, easy to use, smooth ball head controls. A great tripod for the money for serious photographers.

Great Tripod
I bought this tripod for use with a spotting scope, a chronograph and a camera. It came fully assembled and ready to go. I have used it in all 3 roles and it works better than expected. The next test is to take it on a hiking trip and see how it performs in difficult terrain.

Reliable and solid without breaking the bank
I use this tripod for outdoor landscape photography, macro, product shots and long exposure work and it's great for the money. It's very sturdy in construction, made from aluminium, and collapses down to a moderately portable size.

Solid as a rock.
Excellent and very solid. Not for your mountain back packer as it is a bit heavy. Very stable and so quick to setup at full height. Love it!

Heavy Duty
It is heavy when compared to the Manfrotto travel tripods. It feels and looks sturdy. I bought it with the short handled 3-way head. I wasn't sure about the short handles, but I like how unobtrusive they are to use. Plus, the tension adjustment.
