Review: Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum gaming keyboard

I learnt to type on a desktop. A desktop typewriter, that is. An enormous clunky thing with a key travel that must have been a good 25mm and required a very firm strike to make sure it flung the type head with sufficient force to leave a character on the paper.

Excellent feel; very solid; very useful and controllable backlighting; ability to save and share profiles

Fairly tall so may take a little to get time to get used to

I brought this keyboard for the back-lit keys. Cons: 1. The key back lighting has a really bad flicker to it, making it hard to look at the keyboard. 2. The key sounds are not a s nice as other mechanical keyboards. 3. The key back-lighting programming is not flexible enough. e.g.

Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum Review

When it comes to gaming keyboards, it's all about figuring out what gives you that extra edge. For some that means wrist rests, USB ports, smartphone or tablet docks, or an array of macro keys. But what if you want to game without all the fuss? That's where the Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum RGB mechanical keyboard ($159.99) comes into play. With a sleek, no-frills design, the G810 is aimed at those who favor a minimalist, yet personalized gaming experience. It shares a number of features with the Editors' Choice Corsair K95 RGB ( at Amazon) , including media controls and customizable backlighting options, but the K95's abundance of user-friendly options give it the edge for serious gamers. Design and FeaturesStripped-down and utilitarian, the Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum ($389.95 at Amazon) puts its focus firmly on function—no wrist rests, macro keys, or snazzy asymmetrical designs here. If you turn off the backlighting, the G810 passes for a standard keyboard at first glance. Mea...

Logitech's G810 Orion Spectrum is a low-key, high-quality, customizable gaming keyboard that's better suited to occasional players than serious gamers.

Customizable lighting and media controls, with programmable function keys; Comes with 300 preloaded game lighting profiles; Proprietary key switches and 26-key rollover enhance game performance; Software offers stat tracking

Lack of dedicated macro keys and wrist rest may irk serious gamers; Switches sensitive for regular typing; Software tools can be confusing; Too pricey for casual gamers
