Precious little of the Shonen Jump magic shines through the one-note fighting and poorly written story. It's a shame, too, seeing as how diverse the character representation is (as opposed to focusing on the popular stuff).
Tons of characters
Poor visuals; Samey characters; Lazy story; Shallow combat
Graphics: 40% Sounds: 50% Replay/Extras: 80% Gameplay: 60% Family Friendly Factor: 50% System: PS Vita/PS3/PS4(tested) Publisher: Bandai Namco Games Developer: Spike Chunsoft Rating: ‘T' - THIRTEEN and OLDER ONLY {Cartoon Violence, Crude Humor, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes}
The only people who should consider picking up J-Stars Victory VS+ are those who are enormous fans of the Japanese JUMP world made famous in manga and anime, and its quirky cast of characters.
My favorite Dragon Ball Z characters charging Ki; Freiza
No English voiceovers
Flawless victory?
So many characters for the fans; Dialogue is fun; Battles can work really sometimes
Not the best looking; Camera is a problem; Mechanics aren't exciting
Weekly Shonen Jump is a manga collection that's published in Japan. Characters like Goku, Luffy and Naruto made their debuts in Jump, and countless characters, both popular and obscure, have graced its pages.
It's surprising to see J-Stars reach the West. Although the culture of anime and manga has undergone numerous booms over the last ten years or so, there are still many characters that will be unknown to the majority of the audience.
With a roster that's an Anime fan's wet dream, J Stars Victory VS + is assured at least a moderately successful launch over on these shores.
An exercise in apathy, neither solid nor liquid. Not exactly bad, but not very good either. Just a bit "meh," really.
Bandai Namco does it again. They've taken another crossover title that I thought would fall into licensing hell (and land on my import list) and jumped through the hoops necessary to get it localized.
