Hogwarts Legacy Review
The captivating Harry Potter book series has whisked children, teens, and adults off to a hidden world of enchantment and magic since its debut in the late 1990s. The novels spawned a franchise that spans movies, games, and mountains of merchandise. Building on that, developer Avalanche Software takes a stab at the first big-budget Harry Potter game in a decade with Hogwarts Legacy. It's an action-RPG that delivers an open-world interpretation of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as well as the familiar landmarks that surround the academy. Harry Potter fans will appreciate the engaging action, robust spell selection, varied game modes, and expansive customization options, particularly if they're playing on a console. Unfortunately, the $59.99 PC version has significant frame rate issues that occasionally make the game frustrating to play.

Detailed and faithful Harry Potter world; Good voice work and presentation; Engaging combat; Satisfying and rewarding exploration; Fun customization options; Steam Deck Verified
Wildly inconsistent PC frame rates; Needlessly limited inventory; Clunky spell swapping; Controversial connection to J. K. Rowling
