Fujinon XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR - Review / Test Report

At the time Fujifilm announced the Fujinon XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR, they made quite a fuzz about it ... but then that's what marketeers do. The truth is in the pudding and the pudding doesn't taste all that great.

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR

Conclusions Recent lenses for the Fuji X system have been consistently excellent, but the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR is more down to earth. If you're expecting an optically perfect gem, you'll be disappointed.

Strong center sharpness; 7.5x zoom ratio; Image stabilization system; Even illumination from corner to corner; Quick focus; Sturdy, weather-sealed build

Inconsistent edge quality; Some distortion at 18mm; Expensive

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Review

Given its $899.95 asking price and the superb performance delivered by most modern Fujinon lenses, the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR is somewhat disappointing. The zoom matches the field of view of many premium kit lenses for APS-C camera systems, sports a design that protects it from dust and splashes, and is housed in a sturdy barrel. Image quality is strong at the center of the frame, but edge performance is on the weak side at the widest and longest zoom settings. If you already own the standard Fujinon XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS ($385.99 at Amazon) ($699.95), you're better off supplementing it with the XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS ($699.00 at Amazon) , which is a stronger performer and less expensive. Neither of those lenses are weather-sealed, so you'll want to decide if the optical inconsistencies are worth the convenience of an all-in-one design that can be used on rainy and snowy days. DesignThe 18-135mm ($899.95 at B&H Photo Video) measures 3.9 by 3...

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens is well made and covers a long zoom range, but we expect more consistent performance at this price point.

Strong center sharpness; 7.5x zoom ratio; Image stabilization system; Even illumination from corner to corner; Quick focus; Sturdy, weather-sealed build

Inconsistent edge quality; Some distortion at 18mm; Expensive

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens - Brand New review

Slightly better cameras but otherwise, not much of an update - buy the iPhone 14 Pro or switch to Android instead

Better low-light photography, Slightly longer battery life, Action mode gives super stabilised video

The same performance as the iPhone 13, No Dynamic Island or Always-On display, 60Hz screen

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 comes to market with the same launch price as the previous generation. At the same time, iPhone connoisseurs were more than disillusioned after the presentation of the new smartphone. Apple leaves large parts of the hardware unchanged and does not dare to change the design.

Top performance level despite last year's chip, Very high quality workmanship, Improved image and video quality, Excellent battery life

Hardly any innovations, Charging takes too long for 2022

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens - Brand New review

A slight camera upgrade, new emergency features, and... not a whole lot else

Better selfie camera, Good battery life, Crash detection and satellite SOS are neat

It’s more like an iPhone 13S, Display is still 60Hz, eSIM transition will be easy for most but painful for some

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens - Brand New review

It’s a great handset, but the improvements are so iterative that most of you will hardly notice what’s new.

Action mode offers truly superb video stabilization. eSIM makes it easy to switch phones (with other iPhones). Satellite SOS and Crash Detection add peace of mind.

Many of the specs remain the same as on the iPhone 13. Small battery gains. Photonic Engine isn’t as revolutionary as suggested.

Fujifilm XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM Lens Review

Handling and Features Performance Verdict Specification This 7.5x super-zoom lens for Fujifilm X-series interchangeable lens cameras provides a field of view equivalent to a 27-206mm lens on a 35mm camera, optical stabilisation and costs around £750.

Decent sharpness; Robust build; Lightweight; Retro design with manual aperture ring; Low CA; Low distortion; Weather resistant construction

Possibly a touch expensive when compared to similar lenses from other camera manufacturers; Falloff in performance towards the edges of the frame at either end of the zoom range

Fujifilm XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Lens

everything is great about this lens except its weight and dimensions. I have x-t1 model and this lens make it much heavier and shifts center of mass.

Fujifilm XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR

As the first weather-resistant lens for the XF system, the new Fujifilm XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR offers an appealing combination of versatile zoom range, good image quality, excellent construction and handling, and fair value for money.
