The Epson DS-870 Color Duplex Workgroup Document Scanner ($799) is a high-volume sheet-feed desktop scanner intended to serve small to medium-size offices and work groups. An update of the 2015 Editors' Choice Epson DS-860, the DS-870's capacity is higher, and it's somewhat faster, a bit more accurate, and lists for about $400 less. It's not every day that we see a better-performing upgrade for a lot less money, making the DS-870 an easy shoo-in as our current favorite medium- to heavy-duty desktop document scanner for high-volume document-archiving environments.
