Excellent scanner but watch out for image cropping

I have owned several Epson flatbed scanners and have just replaced an Epson Perfection V600 with an Epson Perfection V850 purchased from B&H. This is an excellent product that is easy to setup and use especially if one is familiar with Epson scanners.

Great Solution for Scanning those old 35-mm slides and photos

I have a ton of old 35mm slides that I wanted to digitize (some dating back to the early 60's). After a lengthy online review of available scanners, I chose the Epson V850 as it was under a $1,000 and was advertised to do a good job on color retention (due to LED lighting - pure white) and...

Good scanner and horrible film holders

It is really disappointing to find the medium format and large format holders of wrong dimension for such an expensive scanner. I would expect replacement for the film holders.

Five Stars

Great product, not exactly an Imacon scanner, but very good quality for the price.

Epson Perfection V850 Pro

The Epson Perfection V850 Pro photo scanner offers professional-quality scanning for photographic prints and for film (positive or negative) at up to 8 by 10 inches.

High-quality scans for photographic prints and film (including slides); Color-calibration target and software included

Color-calibration software is frustratingly hard to use

Fabulous scanner

I first checked this scanner out at the PDN Expo in NYC last fall. The Epson rep told me it would only do batch scanning with Epson Scan, not with Silverfast. Because of that, I delayed the purchase.

Versatility; software (Silverfast); double set of film frames; accuracy; great batch scanning capabilities

Bundled Silverfast is the SE Plus version; for a high-end scanner, it should be at least the Ai Studio version. That said, if you buy it from Newegg you save enough on price to make up the difference for buying the Ai Studio upgrade.

Epson Perfection V850 Pro Review

Designed for professional photographers and only the most serious amateurs, the Epson Perfection V850 Pro ($949.99) is arguably the scanner of choice if you want the best possible scan quality for photosand don't mind paying for the privilege. The catch is that you can get nearly the same scan quality in an Epson model that costs about 25 percent less. So whether the V850 ($1,149.00 at Amazon) is worth the price depends on how much of a perfectionist you are. The V850 is the next-generation version of the Epson Perfection V750-M Pro, which it's in the process of replacing. It's also Epson's current top-of-the-line photo scanner, one step up from the Epson Perfection V800 Photo ($2,884.10 at Amazon) , which is our Editors' Choice for a top-quality film scanner for prosumers. There aren't many differences between the V850 and its less expensive near-twin. Both are flatbeds, which means they can scan photographic prints, but the real reason to get either one is for scanning film. B...

A big help archiving 40+ years of film based photographs

Not only getting my old film-based pictures ported over to digital for archiving and viewing on computer or TV display, but having fun doing it. I own an Apple iMac computer as its interface and it DOES work with the latest iMac OS, Catalina.

I'm using the silverfast software that shipped with the scanner and am getting superb quality with both my Medium Format and 35mm slides/negatives.. I highly recommend this scanner for the beginner as well as professional who has a library of film that needs to be scanned... Well done Epson!
