It seems like a great little backlight or fill in flash. Certainly isn't usable as your primary flash unit. Has some wonderful new innovations too which is great to see.

Its Canon. So its good. It takes two batteries. Its great for a camera that doesnt have built-in flash like the 5D series or my new Canon EOS R. One tiny caution: take the batteries out when you put the flash in its case. Ive found that sliding in the flash will accidentally turn on the flash.
I bought this flash to go with my EOS M50. I was using a 600EX RT for my full frame DSLRs, but it is gigantic compared to an M50! I needed to have a flash for events and family gatherings that had full articulation for bounce flash, and this new EL-100 is simply perfect for the job!
Few things can improve a photographer's shot as quickly as a new flash. The majority of DSLR cameras come with a flash built-in. But frankly, that flash tends to be fairly weak. Even when the built-in flash is not totally underwhelming, its certain to provide little in the way of meaningful control.
