Canon EOS 70D review - Performs almost as well as a pro DSLR

Competent ‘Prosumer' digital SLR for those looking for a mid to high end shooter Adjustable LCD with touch screen plus rugged build and body integral Wi-Fi, not to mention 20MP pictures, add up to a classy if pricey contender If you're in the market for a digital SLR to take your photography to a

Swift and accurate auto focus; semi professional body construction with chunky handgrip and top plate LCD; angle adjustable rear screen with touch panel operation; built-in Wi-Fi connectivity

Heavier than most consumer DSLRs; particularly with kit zoom attached; expensive for an APS-C DSLR; awkward to tweak settings using small top plate buttons encircling the smallest LCD

Canon EOS 70D Review

The Canon EOS 70D delivers the smoothest Live View focus we've seen in a traditional D-SLR, but it can struggle to lock that focus in dim light. (4 out of 5) Pros Smooth video autofocus Articulating touch-screen LCD Pentaprism optical viewfinder Quick focus in most situations 7fps continuous drive...

Smooth video autofocus; Articulating touch-screen LCD; Pentaprism optical viewfinder; Quick focus in most situations; 7fps continuous drive shooting; Lots of physical controls; Vertical grip add-on available; 1/250-second flash sync speed; Integrated Wi-Fi

Live View autofocus struggles in low light; Only one SD card slot; Lacks built-in GPS; No PC Sync socket; 1080p video is limited to 30fps; Cannot record video when Wi-Fi is enabled

Canon EOS 70D review

If you're in the market for the very best consumer level DSLR you can get then the 20.2 megapixel APS-C sensor incorporating EOS 70D has got to be high on your wish list. But then again, at this top-end price there's always the temptation to spend a little more and go for a full-frame sensor model...

Built to last construction; Fast response times; Full HD video

Bulky and heavy; Not full-frame resolution; Top-plate short cuts

Love the interactive touch screen....

Great features, relatively light weight, easy to find settings within the menu bar. Love the way the touch screen works to change any settings quickly and easily so I can take my shot if conditions change and I need to make an adjustment.

Easy to use; Build quality; Battery life; Screen size

Most Well Rounded APS-C Camera Available

I did a great deal of research into what sort of DSLR I wanted to purchase. After class, I'd come home and search for hours. During lunch breaks at work, I would watch YouTube videos about numerous Canon cameras (I just prefer Canon construction). Now I'm no professional and I've never taken a...

After doing a lot of research, I made the decision to go with the 70D. I wanted a camera that could handle fast action photography and video. This camera has met those needs and excels in so many ways.

70d is not a good option with kit lens 18-135 mm

Canon 70d allows you a very good video result but its image quality fails with the 18-135mm kit lens . so if you want to shoot video its best option ( use prime lenses for video ) if you want to shoot pictures you should upgrade your lens to the canon l series lens .

Canon EOS 80D vs Canon EOS 70D: a worthwhile improvement?

The Canon EOS 70D was an amazing release by Canon. Its update, the Canon EOS 80D, is a great camera but it feels like the company didn't do enough to make it stand out on its own with new features. Still a great camera for beginners, but are you willing to pay the extra cash to have one?
