Canon EOS 70D

The Canon EOS 70D is the company's latest mid-range DSLR, featuring a 20.2 Megapixel APS-C sensor, Full HD video, a fully articulated touch-screen monitor, built-in Wifi and an innovative new autofocusing system which promises far superior performance during Live View and movies.

Great image quality; high resolution and low noise; Best continuous AF for movies on the market; 1080p movies with compression and timecode options; Large viewfinder with on-demand guides; Fully articulated touchscreen display; Fast continuous hooting at 7fps; Built-in Wifi with laptop or smartphone...

Live View AF only suitable for slow moving subjects; Slow shot-to-shot times in Live View; No built-in GPS nor supplied means to sync with log; No in-camera panorama stitching; Smartphone app can't transfer original image size; EOS Utility need a wireless LAN to operate wirelessly; Single memory...

Canon EOS 70D

If I had to pick a do-everything-well APS-C format camera that does not cost a fortune, the Canon EOS 70D would be my recommendation. This camera has it all - great image quality with high resolution, a great AF system, a moderately large viewfinder, a fast/responsive shutter release combined with a...

The announcement of any Canon DSLR usually creates a lot of excitement, but when that camera launches a new sensor with a new pixel count (for the manufacturer) and is aimed at enthusiast photographers, it ups the ante considerably.

Disappointed

I purchased this a couple of years ago and have had problem after problem with it not working correctly. I have sent it in to be fixed yet the problems continue. I have backup Canon Rebel t1i and continue to use that more often and it works fantastic. I am really disappointed in the 70D.

This camera is better then the 7d!!

I got this camera to replace my t2i and compared its night and day the 70d is fast. I used the wifi to take a picture and every one was how did you do that with your cell phone. they where amazed. I like how fast it keeps focus and stays on a subject.

a lot of new features WiFi / new dual pixel

so far nothing

Amazing Quality & Love the Flip LCD touchscreen!!

ABSOUTELY LOVE! Arrived on time with solid packaging. I order just the body because I already had lens for it. The video quality is amazing - bright and clear and the sound is great. I will be ordering a shot gun mic in the future but for now the sound recorder works perfect.

let me start with the only negative point: ISO noise kicks in far too early otherwise everything is good. colour rendition excellent and predictable (although not very saturated), and offer a solid starting point for further post processing, DPAF works good, it seems to read your mind when focusing,...

Canon EOS 70D review

At first glance the Canon EOS 70D may look like just another DSLR. But it's oh so much more than that: the 70D wages all-out war against not only the rest of the mid-level DSLR market, but also has the technology to take on mirrorless models - often called compact system cameras - too. How so?

Dual Pixel autofocus closes the live view gap between DSLR and CSC cameras - it's very impressive; proven 19-point AF system works well in most lighting conditions; 7fps burst at full resolution with decent buffer; great image quality; responsive touchscreen; long-lasting battery life,...

Not 100% FoV viewfinder; high ISO noise reduction a little rough; autofocus can unwontedly drift between subjects during movie capture; no headphone jack for audio monitoring; some overexposure; filters unavailable in raw + JPEG shooting; single SD; Wi-Fi functionality needs improving

Canon EOS 70D review

Canon has produced a very well rounded camera for enthusiast photographers. It has all the specifications that we expect, along with a few modern niceties in a body that feels well made and comfortable in the hand.

Canon EOS 70D

The 70D is nothing less than the big DSLR release of 2013. The ground between Canon's single-digit and triple-digit DSLRs has long housed some impressive cameras, catering for those looking to take the step up from entry-level DSLR photography.

Great touchscreen performance; Impressive 19-point AF system; Dual-pixel sensor AF delivers fantastic Live-view AF performance; Solid build

Slight issues with AWB performance; Limited creative filter implementation
