This tripod macro ring 'B' works well with the appropriate lenses but it does not fit the 100 mm f2.8 L IS lens, it's too big. The proper ring is the Tripod Macro Ring 'D'.

The optical design of the lens is made of 14 elements in 12 groups including three UD elements. Typical for all true macro lenses it features a floating system for better close-focus correction. The min. focus distance is 0.48m resulting in a max. object magnification of 1:1.
I love this lens. I already own the Canon 100mm macro lens and the picture quality is superb. I can say no different about this lens. First the obvious, it is more "far reaching" than the 100mm and in times when you can't physically bridge the distance between you and the subject, this lens fits the...
Consistent Output; Durable; Nice Bokeh; Rugged; Strong Construction
Heavy; Slow Focus
If you want good quality images, you must invest in good lenses. You won't go wrong with this lens. The results are worth the effort. I compose my shots to get the effect I want, so, I always focus manually before I auto focus. As a result, the slowness that some complain about doesn't bother me.
The EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro lens captures amazing colors, and is the sharpest lens I have used; I read all the reviews and researched this lens for months while I saved for it; Now that I have it and have used it I can say that this will soon be one of my favorite lenses.
The lens is large and a bit heavy but what do you expect
The EF 180mm Macro f/3.5L USM ($1,579 list) is a telephoto prime lens for Canon cameras that features macro shooting capability. At its closest focusing distance it supports 1:1 magnification, which means that an object in the image frame will be projected onto the camera's sensor at its actual...
Very sharp; 1:1 magnification; Includes hood and tripod collar
Expensive; Lacks image stabilization
MARCO LENS MUST USE TRIPODS OR MONOPOD NO MATTER WITH IS (IMAGE STABLIZER) OR NOT. A REMOTE CONTROL PREFERED.
Rugged; Strong Construction
Slow Focus; Tough To Attach
"I bought this on reading reviews and a recommendation from a macro photographer. It is a VERY sharp lens. Much better than my old 100 mm. Although not IS, it is handholdable with sufficient shutter speed. A bit of hunting in lower light situations.
This EF 180mm f/3.5 L macro is Canon's sharpest lens. While all Canon lenses are sharp, if you like to split pixels and try to force lenses into situations where you can see slight differences in sharpness, no other Canon lens is as sharp as this one.
This is the only macro I have ever used so cant compare to others. Iam very pleased with the lens. I shoot small creatures like bugs and frogs. The working distance is great as is the sharpness. I also use it as a long portrait tele on my 5D.
Sharp; built like a tank; great working distance
Little heavy; slow focusing
Sinds 'n halfjaar toegevoegd aan mijn andere macrolenzen, de 100mm IS en de MP E 65. Is een aanrader, zeker als je buiten macro opnames wilt maken. Kwaliteit is uitmuntend
