I love this lens. It opens up a whole new world of the small/tiny! With its 1:1 ratio you can literally fill your sensor life-size. Although the auto-focus works just fine, focusing is often best done manually.

Common to all reports This is my attempt to give something back to the forum members who have provided this wonderful resource. I found much here that helped with my lens selection. So over the last 1 to 2 years here is what I used – all on a pair of 5D bodies.
the best IQ of all my lenses; bomb proof build
a bit heavy
Beautifully crafted and effective lens. Love playing with it!

Just GREAT lens. Great! Color rendition is awsome. Bokeh is smooth and silky. It's built like a tank. On Canon 5D the focus tends to hunt IF the limiter is off. On Canon 1D Mk III this is not such a problem. Would be great if this one had an IS built-in.
IQ; IQ; IQ; Tripod Collar; Focal Lenght; Bokeh
No IS; AF
This tripod macro ring 'B' works well with the appropriate lenses but it does not fit the 100 mm f2.8 L IS lens, it's too big. The proper ring is the Tripod Macro Ring 'D'.
This macro lens is simply the best macro lens available, if you buy this lens you will be amazed at how little Photoshop your images require. The colour saturation is brilliant and the sharpness is razor sharp.
MARCO LENS MUST USE TRIPODS OR MONOPOD NO MATTER WITH IS (IMAGE STABLIZER) OR NOT. A REMOTE CONTROL PREFERED.
Rugged; Strong Construction
Slow Focus; Tough To Attach
Gary Wolstenholme puts the Canon EF 180mm f/3.5 L Macro USM Lens to the test to find out how it performs.
Good build quality; Excellent optics; Low falloff; Low CA; Low distortion
Foot on tripod collar may be too short to use with pro bodies; No hood supplied as standard; Price versus performance doesn't add up
